I have another thread on here asking about the name Tor, this seems to be the name we are going for for DC2 if a boy. Already have an Eirik.

I love Scandinavian names. :)

I also like Vidar, Viktor, Tyr, Frig, Loke, Frej (mostly sent to me by Swedish family member).

I love Freja for a girls name and Astrid.

Loke was a very badly behaved Norse God, google him before consider giving a child his name.

I know he was, I wouldn't actually use it. :)

It is a lovely name though if the person using it didn't mind the history. although I did have a bearded dragon named this so probably best saved as a pets name.

DH is Swedish and our DDs have names which are typically popular both here and in the UK!

Hello, congratulations! I called my Son (now 2) Rafe, which is an old Norse word meaning 'wolf' or 'wolf counsel'.
I was a controversial choice at the time amongst family etc but I love it.

If I had had a girl I had chosen Ingrid, which I think is an understated but beautiful name.

Good luck and have fun choosing, it's a one of the pleasures of parenting...!

I grew up in a Swenglish home and my parents went for names that worked in both countries.

We chose my son's name as it works in both languages even though he's only 1/4 Swedish ... Anyway here are the top names from last year in Sweden. The most popular are Alice and William!
