How would you pronounce Aithan?

Just that, really, DH and I really like this name pronounced one way (I won't tell you which) but I am worried that it's not clearly pronounced like that and the poor wee soul would have a liftetime of correcting people so glad of your gut reactions. Thanks :)

Like Nathan but without the 'N'! What other way is there unless it's confused with Aiden. Never heard of it and not particularly keen.

Never heard of it but when I say it, it sounds like a name I should have heard of, iyswim. I would pronounce like nathan, ay-than. How else could it be pronounced, iy-than?

I would say Ethan as it seems similar to Aoife. Mind you, it doesn't have the 'i', so I dunno..

ladymia - oh yes, like Anthony which can be pronounced with a hard 'T' or a soft 'Th'.

Thanks so much ladies, you have confirmed my fears that I had let DH talk me into a pronunciation that's not obvious (eye-than). The longer you live with something yourself the harder it can be to see it as others would, so your comments have really helped, back to the drawing board me thinks...
