How would you pronounce Shion? Boy or girl? What country do you think it's from?

DH is very keen on Shion for DC2, just wanted to get some opinions from people not familiar with his culture.

Probably pronounced wrong and reckon its Irish

I would assume it was a boys name as looks like a phonetic version of the welsh Sion.

She-on

i've never heard of the welsh Sion, so i'd think She-On, and it's male and Israeli

I'd have said Shy-onn, that it was male, and Native American! It's reminding me of Cheyenne and Shoshone and Sioux... Would never have guessed at Japanese. It's interesting but the poor boy would constantly have to correct people's pronunciation I think. I'd choose something else.
