Or Rosaline? But I might have made that one up.

Rosaline is beautiful

Would you pronounce it Rosa-leen or Rosa-line? I would say the latter.

Google tells me I remember now that Rosaline is a character in Romeo and Juliet and Rosalind is in As You Like It - I thought they were the same character and that I made up one of the spellings myself.

I prefer Rosalie but Rosalind is very pretty too.

I'm much less keen on Rosamund, but I'm not sure why ...

MrsBungleBear · 17/01/2013 15:13

Rosalie and Rosaline are very nice.

Rosalind is ok.

Really don't like Rosamund.

Plonker · 17/01/2013 15:14

I would pn 'leen'

Eskino · 17/01/2013 15:19

Rosaline. (line to rhyme with mine) But so is Rosalind and Rosamund.

Even just Rosa is beautiful.

CastingNasturtiums · 17/01/2013 15:19

I'm on the fence about Rosamund, some days I love it, other days it seems ugly. Prob best not to go with it in that case!

Not keen on Rosalie for some reason. Maybe it reminds me too much of Rosa-Lee.

Ros- names are my favourites!

I think I prefer rosamund to rosalind as the pronounciation (at least in my mind) is rose-a-mund, whereas rosalind is roz-a-lind. But then with Rosalind you have the option of Lindy as a nickname as well as Rosie and all the other versions which is really nice. Rosamund also appeals as it seems more unusual

I'm not a fan of Rosaline, I love Rosalie but the Twilight connotations put me off a little bit.

Other options I really like are Rosita, Rosetta (as long as your surname isnt stone Wink, Roseanna or just Rosa.

MadBusLady · 17/01/2013 18:07

Rosamund (only by a whisker though). I think it's utterly beautiful and serious all at the same time and I love the meaning. I would pronounce "Roz-a-mund".

ClaraBean · 17/01/2013 22:17

Rosalind definitely. Lindy is the best nn ever.

Stixswhichtwizzle · 17/01/2013 22:34

Not keen on Rosamund but the others are lively. I liked Rosalind, Rosanna and Rosalie for DD but DH vetoed

atthewelles · 18/01/2013 15:33

I think Rosamund is beautiful, Rosaline is really nice and Rosalie is horrible.

atthewelles · 18/01/2013 15:33

Sorry, Rosalind is very nice and Rosaline is horrible.

My name is Rosalind and I LOVE it! I always use my full name and very rarely get it shortened by others. However, I choose to shorten it for 2 years at college (Roz) then quickly went back to introducing myself as Rosalind again. It is unusual, special, and has Shakespearean connotations. I have never had anything other than nice comments and positive feedback on it. Plus it goes with simple surnames and more complex ones (ie. Rosalind Smith is classic and simple).

If I could call my daughter Rosalind I would :). It is flexible enough that I can change it if I want (Rose, Rosa, Ros, Roz, Rosie, etc) but I prefer to keep it as Rosalind. It is too beautiful to shorten.
