Inspire me - girls' names from nature or literature...

Dd due in April and we're struggling for a name. But we both love reading and nature (especially birds) so perhaps there's something there...I've looked through Shakespeare, and love Emilia, but DH isn't keen. My other literary heroines don't have names I particularly like (Lydia, Josephine, Nell...) and we don't like flower names. So ruling those out, can anyone think of names with a literary connection or which link to nature?

Literary ones are difficult as I guess you want them to be strong characters... So, please not Mayella - maliciously accuses a man of rape. Scout is nice though .

Thanks guys. I've ruled out a lot of Shakespeare because they meet sticky ends (so no Ophelia!), as does poor Tess. Imogen we both like, so that's a contender. I adore Loveday but it'll be too out there for DH I expect. Perdita is gorgeous but not with our surname. Mayella...she's not a great role model, is she? Phoebe is good and not one I've really thought of. I love Linnet, but I guess it'd get shortened to Lin and people wiuld think it was Lynn? Lots of food for thought, thanks!

I can't remember why it's a literary name though... But it definitely is. And it's almost like willow, so it's a cross over!

Will out.myself here but my DD is named for two female characters in books from.my childhood: Meg Alice.

I would love to use Matilda next but don't want two woth the same initials.

I would like to carry on the literary connection but not sure what names to go for.

My DDs both have literary names, though one has more positive connotations than the other. One is Daisy Ophelia (I know Ophelia doesn't have the nicest of stories but love the name) and the other is Emily Miranda (David Copperfield is one of my all time faves, though again, Little Em'ly doesn't have the best ending. Miranda fares better in The Tempest)

I love Fleur, if we are lucky to have another daughter, this is the name I have chosen. I just love the sound of it,the shape of your mouth when you say it and also what it means

and I would of course give her the nickname of 'petal'
