What do you think of the name Peter? It's a family name that I always imagined myself using, but now that it's almost 'crunch time' I'm not sure it feels right?

Do you think Peter for a baby sounds odd? Pete?

i think it's a fab name! really good-great for a little boy and lovely for a man and it will be unusual too in this era of mad names

I think it's a name that travels well through baby to adulthood.

Lovely name!

The only pitfall is that Horrid Henry's brother is Perfect Peter. I don't think that's a show-stopper, but may be a reason for it not being used much recently.

I know a 2 year old Peter who is adorable - I'd never really have considered it before knowing him, but he's proved it is definitely do-able. I like it!

It's a lovely name - as Alisvola says - it's a name that sounds right on a baby, a toddler, a small child, a teen, a young adult and a more mature man.

Definitely a name for life! A friend of a friend has a baby Pete, which sounded a bit odd initially, but quite cool.

It's DS's middle name (he is 4), he is named after a much loved family member, so I love it for that reason, but see nothing wrong with it as a name. That family member is called Pete as an adult and was Petey as a child. I work with two adult Peters, one is known as Pete (30s), the other as Peter (50s).

I LOVE Peter. I'd use it myself but it's a minor euphemism for penis here in the US. :(

I really do love it though, and Pete is such a sunny little name.

I know a lovely little 2 year old Pete/r.

I can't say it would ever make my list, but I do think it's gradually coming back into use again after a few wilderness years.
