But have suddenly come onto my radar!
What do you think of:
Roberta ?!
Rosemary (mainly because I love Romy as a nn)?!

Both so old fashioned, and not in the Clementine, Florence 'y way, if you know what I mean...
But something about them i quite like.... and refreshingly un-fashiony?

Love Romy! I would go with that as a full name. Haven't ever thought about Roberta, not sure it's to my taste.

Rosemary is absolutely beautiful - and Romy is a great nn.

Love Roberta. Reminds me of the railway children.

Just Romy is lovely, wouldnt even consider a longer version.

Rosemary would surely be shortened to Rosie/Rose by other people anyways.

Roberta and Rosemary are both lovely underused names that make a refresching change from all the cutesy Evie/Alfie/Poppy names. I particularly like Roberta!

Romy is a great name on its own with the added bonus of being different. Rosemary will be Rosie or Mary, both over-used.

Roberta can be Bobby or Bertie as a nn. It's unusual too.

Roberta is a great name. Rosemary is nice too but agree that Rosie would be little dull/overused. Romy is quite nice though.

My MW is called Roberta and if I was having a DD I'd definitely consider it. It's a lovely name and I love the NN Bobbie.

I love Rosemary, it's my aunt's name, but bizarrely she has always gone by her middle name of Jane. Jane is lovely but it isn't a patch on Rosemary.

I would happily use it, but my cousin (her daughter) wants to use it if she has a daughter, so it's off the table for me.

I like Rosemary a lot. It sounds wise, clever and pretty.

Roberta is harder, because all I see is a poor attempt at "feminising" Robert.

You could go in the middle with Rosmerta? (Owner of the pub in Hogsmead in Harry Potter, but also a goddess of fertility and abundance with the Gallo-Romans.

I know you shouldn't care what other people think of the names we choose for our children - but it is the children who are the ones that are going to have to deal with other peoples' opinions all their lives, so it is interesting to poll a bit...

Roberta is one of my all time fave names but it's DH's cousin so can't use it

When I had ds3 the woman in the bed next to me had a little girl called Rosanne, thought it was a lovely name then.

Both are gorgeous names you couldn't possibly argue with. I agree refereshing in that they are timeless, tried and tested names which aren't in the current trend, which can be a nice thing, Its just depends which one you love!

I love all these names (OK ,if honest ,maybe not Rosmerta); also Robin(i)a, Rowena. Couldn't use any of them for dd due to clash with surname.

My mum is Rosemary and she is lovely . Her fad was Robert and wanted her to be Roberta but my grandma refused point blank so Rosemary was the compromise.
