Is Eadie a stand alone name or would you use Edith & shorten it??

It's Edie, and it's a diminutive (not a nickname) of Edith.

I have only come across it as Edie and as a diminutive of Edith.
Love the name Edie :-)

I'd say it is a nn for Edith, but I know a 2 weeks old Edie who is just Edie.

Any Edie's I have come across have been short for Edith (quite a few where I am from in Scotland).

bigblue, Ed or Eddie (two d's) is short for Edward. Edie (one d) is pronounced EAdie and is short for Edith...

I looked it up on a names website last night to write I. The neighbours Christmas card and found the spelling Eadie like the op. I like it. I also hope I spelt it right. At least tried!

In the sheltered accomm where my Nana lived, at least half of the residents were Edie (short for Edith) or Ivy (including my Nana). For me, it's always a nn and an old lady name.

I'm sure all the inmates (as they used to call themselves) would be smiling at how popular and trendy their names are becoming!

Oh, also, never saw it spelled Eadie.

My Gran (born around 1910) was an Edith - her sisters were Elsie, Ethel and Winnie (great gran must have run out of E names!)

They will always be "old lady" names to me, but I do think Edie/ Edith is a beautiful name!

Edie Sedgwick's first name was Edith. Only Edie I have heard of but I do like the name.

My mil is Eadie. It's actually her middle name but the 1 she uses. It was her gran's maiden name. I think it's really nice and unusual but not freakishly unusual where your child would spend her life explaining and spelling it
