Rory: A good me?

Hi, I think I have settled on a girls name but don't know whether I will have a boy or girl. My partner has his heart set on Rory, as he has scottish roots and has always liked it. Funnily enough I read it in a story when I was little and it stuck, so I think it might be a possibility. I was wondering what people's thoughts were: is it a strong enough name, will it be a problem with 2 'r's as lots of people struggle with it (think jonathon ross) and is it a 'sensible' name, could it be described as classic?

Like it, also love Ruairidh (roo-ri). Rory is the anglicised version of the same name, though lots anglicise to Roderick/ Roddy. Go for it!

I know a 17 year old Rory, very nice guy. I like it, I don't think there will ever be 5 in a class but it's also not an 'out there' name.

I love it. I would have it for a boy in a heartbeat, but only have girls. And live somewhere (Germany) where the pron. would be horrendous.

I like it.

Rory is a lovely name.

Love Rory and prefer the Anglicised version to the Scottish/Irish ones as I hate the rooooo-ri pronunciation.

I like Rory. But I'd pronounce it differently from Ruaridh. Is that right or wrong?

Eg Ruaridh Quinn is Rooree Quinn not Rory Quinn.

That's spot on ginsoaked. I love both names, nice choice :)

I loved Rory when we were deciding names for DC2. DH not so keen on it tho.

Rory is roaree and ruaraidh is roo-aree. I prefer ruaraidh, but Rory is ok.

Another vote for Rory, I have one and it's unique.

Rory is a nice name and classic. I also prefer Ruaridh, but we live in Scotland.
