Did you chose a name you like but don't love? How did you feel?

If so, did you get used to it quickly or did it take time or are you still a little unhappy with it? DH and I couldn't agree on a girls name and there were last name issues so our baby girls name is a compromise.

It's a name I like, it sounds pretty and people generally think its a nice name but its not the one of the ones I really wanted. I have no intention of changing it as it's not that I dislike it, it just isn't the one.

We've made our decision though which is a triumph in itself but it still feels odd and I feel :( Has anyone else felt like this or am I on my own? (sits here imagining everyone else loves their DCs names ....) Is it ok to have chosen a name thats not top of your list?

DD1's name was a compromise. exH chose her first name (it meant a lot to him and I had nothing against it) and I chose the second, partly to go with the first (both are French names and the second name was the name of a favourite aunt of mine). The idea was that she would use both but not hyphenate. For a long time she just used the first name but started using the double name a few years ago.

The first name on its own grew on me I have to say but the two names together is very much DD1 and a much more stylish name.

I don't particularly like any of my 3 DCs names. My DH was horrible about choosing names and only wanted very boring, dated, old-fashioned or plain names - think Samantha, Vicki, Alan or Scott. Sorry to offend if people like those names I really don't.

I have ended up with 3 safe 'top ten' names that we both settled on.

I still feel sad. In a weird way I actually have gone off my DH because of it and I'm not sure I feel the same way about him!

I can't believe I have to share a bed with someone who thinks Samantha or Alan is a good choice for a baby Grin
