Is Artie posh?

So we like the name Arthur but cant imagine it for a baby/toddler. Do you think the nickname Artie is really posh?

We are having an Arthur if it's a boy :-) his brother is a George

I love Arthur and Artie for short, its on our boy's shortlist :) go for it, if you and your other half like it, that's the main thing!

I think you can think up some kind of negative rhyme with most names so wouldn't worry too much about the 'fartie' :)

I have an Arthur and we don't shorten it. Artie is nice though. No idea if it is posh.

Did you name your son Artie in the end? The name is now top of our list. We have one son called Luca and thought Arthur is ok when older but Artie when younger. It's hard choosing a name that's different thou.

Who cares if it is posh - cant see any problems with having a posh name..?

No I don't care about posh. Also about Arty Farty as Luca could be Lukey Pukey if the kids want to be mean. Some kids get Picked on regardless but not usually over a name.

But Luca is pronounced Luca, not Lukey..... I don't know why the Artie Farty connection is so strong, but in my mind it is....

I reckon kids can find something about every name to mock if they want to.

I actually think Arthur works nicely on a toddler, i wasn't planning on shortening it.

Agree that kids are cunning little things. If they want to pick on a name they will find something!

I have an Arthur (family name) and I don't shorten it. Its ok when other toddlers call him "arfur" but annoys the feck out of me when his gp's do it (in-laws obvs). My half of the family tend to use the welsh pronunciation more.

My DM kept trying to shorten it to Artie but it hasn't really panned out. Maybe he will get a nn one day, and if he's lucky it won't be farty arty
