I've met a baby Thor! It suited him. Maybe there are going to be loads of them toddling around soon..

I've just given my baby son the middle name Jupiter. DH thought I was hormonal when I suggested it (post-birth) but it turns out I'm a trailblazer.

Our friends nearly named their boy Plato, but chickened out.

curiousgeorgie · 22/11/2012 13:10

I love Athena!

DS1 has an ancient name for once I'm ahead of the curve. Actually, so does DS2, but it's not Roman.

I thought Atticus has been popular for a while now. It's always being suggested on here.

Thor is cool. And I love Loki. And Maeve is a fab name, I went to where Queen Maeve is buried a couple of weeks ago - and I added it to our future girl's list Grin.

Astrid... I've had that on my name list for so long... I love old lady names on little girls... I am due DC2 in April and I'm contemplating Edith too. Maeve was suggested but DH didn't know how to pronounce the written form, or spell the verbal form...

I have met a Thor as well, he was nicknamed in the scbu by one of the nurses and it stuck, soooo cute.

Snowflakepie · 22/11/2012 22:08

I have recently come across a newborn Thorburn, nn Thor. I was a bit sick in my mouth with laughing so hard... Maybe they like snooker?

silverfrog · 22/11/2012 22:14

god, who knew I was a trend setter? Confused

loadsof those names were on our lists for ds, and some of them years ago for dd1 and dd2.

I love Astrid and Persephone (if ds had been a girl, there is a strong chance he would have been Persephone)

And Thursten/Torsten was very high on our list for quite a while. Dh wanted Octavius, and took quite a lot of persuading otherwise Grin

so we are clearly just ahead of the trend Grin

I think classic, elegant, underused solid names are going to become more popular as people tire of cutesy names (Alfie, Archie, Evie etc), so I predict names like Cassian, Quentin, Roman, Tristan for boys and Florence, Edith, Pearl for girls.
