We think we might have decided on Isaac as our boys name but I am now naturally over thinking it! Does it sound too much like 'I suck'?

It's a beautiful name. I liked it a lot for ds but dh didn't.

I would definitely use it.

AThingInYourLife · 20/11/2012 07:26

It doesn't sound anything like "I suck" :o

Anonymumous · 20/11/2012 11:13

I have an Isaac and that never occurred to me. The vicar did pronounce it as I-Sack when he was christened though. Hmm

It has a lovely meaning, a cool historical namesake and a couple of nice nicknames. But you won't believe how much trouble people have spelling a fairly popular five-letter name - it can get quite annoying after a while!

Blu · 20/11/2012 12:10

It's a lovely name.

ClementineandLilac · 20/11/2012 12:27

Beautiful.....I pronounce it I Zack....is that correct?

Ummofumbridge · 20/11/2012 12:34

I love it.

chaya5738 · 20/11/2012 14:47

I love it

Rhubarbgarden · 20/11/2012 15:20

I don't like it, personally. I think it's the double 'A'.

WheresMyCow · 20/11/2012 15:27

I love it, but them I'm biased as I have an Isaac too. Grin

And yes, people do have trouble spelling it sometimes - they always want to put a double S in it.

BarbecuedBillygoats · 20/11/2012 15:28

Exactly the same as cow

mrsXsweet · 20/11/2012 16:47

Thank u for reassuring me! We love it, and finally agree on a name so I think my husband would have gone mad if I had talked myself out of it! Isaac it is, now just got to hope he arrives on time- i do not want to be overdue on Christmas day...

It's lovely. I don't think it sounds like I-suck

As long as your surname isn't Hunt it's a good solid choice :)

MolotovCocktail · 20/11/2012 18:47

I love Isaac.

DD1 goes to school with a kind, beautiful little Isaac.

It means 'the one who laughs'

Go for it!

ja9 · 20/11/2012 18:52

LOVE it!

Anonymumous · 20/11/2012 18:52

Ooh, Molotov, I had no idea your daughter was in the same class as my son! Grin

MolotovCocktail · 21/11/2012 11:18

Grin @ Anonymumous

I don't know how anyone couldn't like the name. It's in my top 3 (well, 4, boys name) which are:

Gabriel
Reuben
Isaac
Ezra

Off subject, sorry OP, but too darn good not to share Wink

caz05 · 21/11/2012 19:58

I have a Isaac so I love it and it has never crossed my mind that it sounds like I-suck.

The most annoying thing is when people pronounce it izach.

It's still a fairly unusual name and I have only recently come across another one and that's in the last 7 years!!!

ConfusedandBemused · 21/11/2012 21:02

Caz05 I would pronounce it izach.....what is the proper pronounciation? Izik?
