Just that really...thoughts on the name Alba (girls name)

Wasn't Alba a cheap electrical brand in the early 90's - made naff stereos?

I personally don't like it. But if we all liked the same names there would only be one name for boys and 1 name for girls. Variety is good.

It was the name of the daughter in the Time Travellers Wife. I like it - unusual but everyone will know how to pronounce and spell it.

First thing that pops in my head is 'Jessica Alba' - not sure if I like or dislike. Sorry to not be that helpful.

Very pretty. My Spanish niece is called Alba, it's a fairly common name there.

Nice name, unusual but not too "out there". Also the Gaelic word for Scotland.

Lovely- it is a character in the fantastic Isabel Allende book 'House of the Spirits' and means 'dawn' in Spanish.

I've met two little girls called Alba recently, both aged about 2 years, so it does seem to be growing in popularity. Personally though, I hear it and think 'Alma', so not too keen.

I thought of "House of the Spirits" too. Quite like it (the book and the name!)

Itsme no I'm not your friend lol! I also know somebody who has just called her daughter Alba. Don't think it's the same person though.

Who said Alba was also Gaelic for Scotland? That's interesting because Alban is Welsh for Scotland.

Actually, I have just put it with our surname and it doesn't work as surname starts Bla.

It's beautiful especially if your Scottish. I would have it on our list but DH feels its too patriotic.

If I could find an attractive form of Wales,that could also be used to for a name,like Alba can for Scotland,I would be right in there. :)
