Not if you're planning on visiting certain popular tourist regions, where the words "emmet" and "grockle" (not that anyone would call a child "Grockle", surely?) and not-complimentary words for said tourists.

But if your dc can avoid Cornwall (which would be a shame) it'll be OK.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 31/10/2012 23:09

Sorry, are not-complimentary words.

ALittleBitOfMagic · 31/10/2012 23:09

Never read or seen twilight but I am aware it is a character name but didn't really put me off . We had Jacob on our shortlist and the twilight connection really put DH off it just because he's such a main character DH thought it would become really popular .

ALittleBitOfMagic · 31/10/2012 23:12

Due to this man

JennyPiccolo · 31/10/2012 23:50

I'm in west of Scotland and I know an emmett. It sounds like it's spelled, so I dunno what the issue would be, but then I fair enjoy a glottal stop.

Alonglongway · 01/11/2012 00:06

Oh yes love Emmett

Nivet · 01/11/2012 12:54

I'm a Cornish girl so it would be a no from me, sorry.

LizLem0n · 01/11/2012 12:59

I never knew it meant that in cornwall. I knew what Grockle meant though. why two words? do they mean exactly the same thing?

LizLem0n · 01/11/2012 13:01

Squoosh, they should have had Sybil become involved with a Robert Emmet type, would have been much more realistickkkkkk

amck5700 · 01/11/2012 13:10

Emerson with Emmet as a NN?

Nivet · 01/11/2012 14:52

Emmet is Cornish for ant, grockle is used by Devonians not the Cornish IME.
