Thanks all, its took us months of arguing to finally agree in this name only reservations I have is whether it's too popular and whether people would instantly think of Georgia the place?

It's reasonably popular, so as not to be unusual, but not massively common, IME as a secondary teacher. It's also popular enough to simply be thought of as a girl's name in its own right and not have any connections to the place.

Every second little girl here was called Georgia when my best friend had her first. He is now 16. I haven't heard any little ones called it for a good while now but it was very overused here for a while (Yorkshire).

I like it. My 15 year old niece is called Georgia.

I only know one in the 0 - 5 ish age group. Really like it.

I teach five Georgias in year 11. They are all lovely girls.

I like it, we had 4 at once in my Brownie pack but at the moment we only have one and she'll be moving up to Guides at Christmas so it does seem that the peak was quite some time ago.

All the ones I've known were Georgia except one Giorgia as she had Italian heritage.

I know two under 3. Well, one of them is a Jorja! It doesn't make me think of the place, but before I knew these two, it reminded me of Billy's wife in Ally Mcbeal.

It was #60 on the girls baby name chart in England and Wales in 2011.

It's a lovely name, and one that we considered for dd1 (now 12).
