What is your first reaction to this name?
Is it common where you live? Thanks

I live in France so it is virtually unheard of here. I love it!

RikersBeard · 21/10/2012 17:15

It's lovely and I have only met one

eBook · 21/10/2012 17:15

Lovely name :) Pretty but not OTT.

Natnat29 · 21/10/2012 17:44

Thanks all, its took us months of arguing to finally agree in this name only reservations I have is whether it's too popular and whether people would instantly think of Georgia the place?

It's reasonably popular, so as not to be unusual, but not massively common, IME as a secondary teacher. It's also popular enough to simply be thought of as a girl's name in its own right and not have any connections to the place.

Natnat29 · 21/10/2012 18:49

Thank you good to know its not too popular

Every second little girl here was called Georgia when my best friend had her first. He is now 16. I haven't heard any little ones called it for a good while now but it was very overused here for a while (Yorkshire).

housebyariver · 21/10/2012 19:04

GEORGIA

or Jorja as seen on the cab of an Eddie Stobart lorry?

I could weep.........

Natnat29 · 21/10/2012 19:04

Think that's right was very popular in the 90's looking at the name stats

I like it. My 15 year old niece is called Georgia.

magictorch · 21/10/2012 20:55

Lovely, exactly what I've chosen for DC1 if they're a girl. I think it's really pretty.

WerewolvesDoTheFandango · 21/10/2012 21:05

I love it, but it's been vetoed and we're ha king a boy

imustbepatient · 21/10/2012 21:16

I only know one in the 0 - 5 ish age group. Really like it.

notnowImreading · 21/10/2012 21:19

I teach five Georgias in year 11. They are all lovely girls.

ImpatientOne · 21/10/2012 21:23

I like it, we had 4 at once in my Brownie pack but at the moment we only have one and she'll be moving up to Guides at Christmas so it does seem that the peak was quite some time ago.

All the ones I've known were Georgia except one Giorgia as she had Italian heritage.

Natnat29 · 21/10/2012 21:36

5!? Yr 11 is that 15/16?
It will be Georgia and not Jorja for sure

I have 3 in my nursery at the moment, do as far as I am concerned, it was certainly fairly common in my area 3 years ago.

Littlefish · 21/10/2012 21:46

So, not 'do'

Natnat29 · 21/10/2012 21:46

Where are you littlefish?

WhispersOfWickedness · 21/10/2012 21:51

I know two under 3. Well, one of them is a Jorja! It doesn't make me think of the place, but before I knew these two, it reminded me of Billy's wife in Ally Mcbeal.

AlexanderS · 21/10/2012 22:31

It was #60 on the girls baby name chart in England and Wales in 2011.

Devora · 21/10/2012 22:37

I know two. It's not uber-popular, but not uncommon.

youonlysingwhenyourewinning · 21/10/2012 22:52

It's a lovely name, and one that we considered for dd1 (now 12).

It was fairly popular then, but much less so now.

Littlefish · 22/10/2012 06:32

Worcesestershire
