Boy's name: Keir. What do you think?

Pronounced 'Keer'.

I like this, and think it's quite unusual, but also sounds classic and strong (and in my mind would pass the High Court Judge/Binman test)....am considering it for DS1 who's due in a few weeks.

Opinions on this name?

There are a few Keirs up where I live (North East England). I like it.

aaargh, love it! My 5 month old DS was very much almost Keir. [jealous] I am Scottish and live in England and I roll the r at the end. Every time DH (English) said it sounded like Kia it just didn;t sound the same :(

If I lived in Scotland he would definitely have been Keir but we called him Cameron in the end which I love (but not as much as Keir!)

Wow, surprised people like it.

I know the C word is frowned upon here but to be its seriously chavtastic.

Love it and wanted it for both my DS as its similar to my maiden surname. Agree strong and manly Wink

I like it, apart from I only know it from Penny Vinchenze (however thats spelt) novels and he's a moody bastard with a huge chip on his shoulder.

I don't think so and I admit that I do find a lot of names a bit "c"

Keir Starmer is chavy? Shock

I think it's just K names in general, especially for boys which I think can be a bit .......

Kieran
Kyle
Kallum

It seems similar to me.

It's a great name. Unless you're from east London, in which case first associations may well be with the Keir Hardie estate in Canning Town.

I love it. Would definitely consider using it in the (highly unlikely) event I ever have another baby Smile.

I know a guy called Keir.

I guess the name is ok, but for me I associate the name with this man who has a terrible burp affliction... I can't get over this Grin

But if I didn't know him, I'd say yes, it is a nice name.

There there Ken, don't fret. Wink

I'm sorry, guilty as charged. I'm a k name snob.

I like it - makes me think of Keir Hardie. I went out with a Keir briefly. He lived in a sofa warehouse.
