Middle names for Eloise

We've just about settled on Eloise for DD1 expected in December. Still no middle name though.

She will be Eloise middlename mysurname DHsurname. My surname is two syllables and DH's is one.

Please can you give me your views on:

Eloise Beatrice
Eloise Marianne
Eloise Cecily
Eloise Cara
Eloise Mia
Eloise May
Eloise Melissa

Some of these eg Melissa and Cecily seem to have too many L and S sounds to work with Eloise - what do you think?

Other suggestions welcome too - especially more unusual names.

You should pick something that has personal meaning - the name of a place, relative, friend etc.

Eloise Beatrice - lovely
Eloise Marianne - lovely but the rhythm is a bit awkward
Eloise Cecily - too much sss with the words running into each other
Eloise Cara - lovely
Eloise Mia - OK
Eloise May - OK
Eloise Melissa - like

Eloise Cara is my favourite.

Eloise May also sounds nice but May is 'the' middle name of the moment it seems (along with Rose).

HuwEdwards · 24/09/2012 19:31

Jane?

Louboo2245 · 24/09/2012 19:33

I thought Rose instantly, but out of the ones you've chosen I would go with Beatrice

InvisibleHotPinkWeasel · 24/09/2012 19:34

Eloise Michelle
Eloise Ann

I think based on syllables you need a two syllable name so Mia or Maya would be good.

YouMayLogOut · 24/09/2012 19:40

Eloise Vanessa

Japple · 24/09/2012 20:13

Well...how about. "Eloise Taylor . you see,Eloise is 3 syllables,
and wants a 2-syllable sound next to it... Example:

                 Eloise Taylor Maxwell Smyth. Jill.

I've got an Eloise Madeline :)

minipie · 25/09/2012 10:33

Thanks everyone! I like lots of the names mentioned above, some are out for family reasons though. I agree two syllables do seem to flow better.

I really like Madeleine (three syllables notwithstanding!) will suggest that to DH, thanks for the idea. However we do know a couple of friends' babies called Madeleine but as their first name, does that matter?

Seems like Cara and Beatrice slightly have the edge from the responses.

Thinking about it we might want to keep it as a first name in case we have DD2. Same applies to Cecily actually. So I guess that's a reason not to use it...? Or will our tastes have changed anyway by the time of DC2?

I really like Cara but my surname also starts with a hard C, so it would be Eloise Cara C- DHName. Does that matter?

As you've ruled out most of your original list due to too many L and S sounds or because you wish to reserve the names for a possible second daughter, I suggest:

Eloise Matilda
Eloise Victoria
Eloise Catherine
Eloise Georgina
Eloise Mary
Eloise Flora
Eloise Poppy
Eloise Megan
Eloise Francesca

minipie · 25/09/2012 11:53

You're right I have haven't I Grin! But do you think the second daughter reason is a good reason... ?

I like Megan, will see what DH thinks, thanks

baskingseals · 25/09/2012 21:56

what about

Eloise Maria

Eloise Seren

Eloise Clara

Eloise Zoe

Sinkingfeeling · 25/09/2012 23:18

I have an Eloise Beatrice :)

marshmallowpies · 25/09/2012 23:28

Eloise Claire
Eloise Lara

Neither very original (especially as you've already had Cara and Clara suggested) but they both have a nice sound about them, I think.
