Grayson

We may have found a name at last. DH has a similar first name, and it means 'son of the grey haired' which is apt as we are both ancient.

Any thoughts oh wise but brutally honest ones Grin

Makes me think of Larry Grayson. So not keen I'm afraid.

LemonBreeland · 23/09/2012 20:20

I really like it. It was on my shortlist for dc3, who turned out to be dd.

SomeoneThatYouUsedToKnow · 23/09/2012 20:24

I dont like it, sorry Sad. It's too surnamey for me.

scarlettsmummy2 · 23/09/2012 20:32

I also know a Brown- old school teacher! Lovely man.

SomebodySaveMe · 23/09/2012 20:37

I love it. There's a Grayson in cougar town.

gallicgirl · 23/09/2012 20:39

I'm mostly thinking of Larry Grayson but that might just be my age.

Personally I don't like surnames as first names, but that aside there's nothing particularly awful about it.

DawnOfTheDee · 23/09/2012 20:41

Another Grayson Perry fan here. Go for it! Grin

emmyloo2 · 24/09/2012 07:20

I quite like it actually - Grey for short.

Not really my style as I like old-fashioned names but this one is ok.

I also really like Grover. DH said no though.

applepieinthesky · 24/09/2012 12:34

Hi VQ Smile I quite like it and the American surnames as first names thing is becoming more popular over here.

Babies I know who have been born recently include Keaton, Cole, Riley, Lincoln.

GoodPhariseeofDerby · 24/09/2012 12:50

Like it, it was on our list for DS2, though I prefer Gratian (grey-shen).

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 24/09/2012 12:52

My DNephew is called Graydon which I think is very nice. Grayson is ok but getting extremely popular.

ValiumQueen · 24/09/2012 13:22

.

hearts it is the 'popular' bit I was worrying about. I don't think it will be the next 'Jack' though from the majority of the replies.

Why is naming a boy so hard? Girls are easy in comparison.

Thank you all for your honest input.

Ooh, I like it! Not sure why, I just do. It sounds very....distinguished.

ValiumQueen · 24/09/2012 14:50

Thank you dessie I must admit when I imagine a Grayson he is tall, distinguished looking, very gentlemanly etc. I therefore think it would be cute on a little one.

You're right, it sounds nice on a wee one and an adult. Do it!

LizLemon007 · 24/09/2012 15:53

Might have quite liked Grey until the fifty shades. People will say, was he conceived after the first chapter then?

LizLemon007 · 24/09/2012 15:54

Grayson is popular?? I have never met one.

FreddieMercuryforQueen · 24/09/2012 15:57

I love the name Grayson and it would be my next DS's name if there were to be one.

BobbiFleckman · 24/09/2012 16:03

Gray / Grey is a lovely name. It's the name of the husband in The Razor's Edge by Somerset Maugham (for those of a more literary bent than 50 shades of shite)

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 24/09/2012 16:04

I can't see anyone making a link to 50 shades of grey at all to be honest. Hopefully those books will have gone away by the time he would be in school!
