Your thoughts on these two names

We are currently thinking about names but are no where near decided so expect lots more posts! I really like the names Jasmine and Cassie (after seeing this one quite a bit on MN). Am not keen on Cassandra though just Cassie.

What do you think? How are they regarded i.e. do they have any connotations? Do you think they would stand the test of time? Really want to avoid faddy or pretentious names.

I like Cassidy . Nn Cassie . Alternative to Cassandra .

SirGOLDBoobs · 20/09/2012 10:28

I like Jasmine, kind of harmless. I know one Cassie. I don't like it as a full name.

imustbepatient · 20/09/2012 11:45

Both lovely but I would use a longer name with Cassie as nn. If you are not keen on Cassandra (or Cassidy as suggested above) how about Cassia?

BlazerOfGlory · 20/09/2012 11:46

Cassiopeia?

delilah88 · 20/09/2012 11:48

I love Jasmine. Another form is Jessamine.
Also I love Cassie. Another form is Cassia.

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 20/09/2012 11:48

Cassie is lovely and perfectly fine on its own. im not keen on Jasmine.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/09/2012 19:41

Love Cassie but love Cassandra too. Jasmine doesn't do much for me in comparison.

TiggerWearsATriteSmile · 20/09/2012 19:44

Jasmine is awful
I know of a girl with this name and her name gets shortened to Jazzy.
Awful.

Cassie is the better choice of those two.

SecretNutellaFix · 20/09/2012 19:46

Jasmine's alright. Not my personal taste, but certainly it doesn't make me shudder.

Cassie is pretty, I know someone who uses it as a nickname for Catherine, if you don't like Cassandra?

WizardofOs · 20/09/2012 19:46

I like Cassie but I know a Cassie (Cassandra really but no one uses that and never have) and she says its a dog's name. I don't personally know any dogs called Cassie!

YouMayLogOut · 20/09/2012 21:05

Jasmine is lovely.

Cassie/Cassandra are nice, but personally I think Cassie is too nicknamey on its own so would want a "full" version. How about Cassia, with Cassie as nickname?

BoyMeetsWorld · 20/09/2012 21:08

Love jasmine but ruled out for us as its so common now. I would've shortened it to Minnie.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 20/09/2012 21:10

Both very nice. I think I prefer cassie a bit.

casper91 · 21/09/2012 05:35

I am a kassandra, but nobody calls me that and I don't answer if they do unless its my mum . Hate it. I introduce myself as kassie which people shorten to Kas once they know me well (which I love!)
Hate jasmine but I think that's just association with someone I don't get on with.
Fwiw yes I know a few dogs called cassie, which can be quite awkward when someone says 'oh my dogs called cassie'
Sorry for typos, grammar and ramble, its late!

MadameCastafiore · 21/09/2012 05:52

Jasmine super commOn round here, with the posher kids.
Cassie is a bit horsey.

SirDoris · 21/09/2012 06:16

Not keen on Jasmine. Love Cassie and was on my list for DC2, but he was a DS in the end. I felt like you, love Cassie but not keen on Cassandra as full name.

ThreeWheelsGood · 21/09/2012 08:43

I love Jasmine - would shorten to Jaz! Cassie without a long version is not great, you'd have to give her a full name too I think.

telsa · 21/09/2012 08:44

What about Jessamy, which combines elements of the two. Love them both though.

jkklpu · 21/09/2012 12:56

I had a friend at school. Caroline, nn Cassie
