Brilliant. I expect it's a marmite one but I for one like it.

MrsJohnDeere · 14/09/2012 11:37

Like it.

Funnily enough I was only saying to someone it's morning that this was a name due for a come back.

HoratiaWinwood · 14/09/2012 11:39

Ooh no.

Excellent on a pet though.

shumway · 14/09/2012 11:48

Sweet. I like it.

telsa · 14/09/2012 11:50

Doris sounds cute to me.

evamummy · 14/09/2012 12:07

Doris is a lovely underused name. I think you're ahead of the curve - as people move away from cutesy names, solid names like this will become more popular, I reckon.

TudorJess · 14/09/2012 12:17

Yes, why not?

OddFrog · 14/09/2012 12:23

I love it. Be brave and go for it, in a few years there'll be several Doris', it's definitely due a comeback.

InchyInchy · 14/09/2012 12:40

I'm another one that loves it! I'm thinking something along that lines for our baby if it turns out to be a girl.

scentednappyhag · 14/09/2012 12:44

I love Doris! A friend of my step-dad calls everyone Doris, he'd be thrilled to actually meet a real one Grin

rachel234 · 14/09/2012 13:01

Doris is a lovely name and makes a refreshing change from all the Ellies, Evies, Tillys, Millies. Great choice, especially that it honours your gran!

Pasiphae · 14/09/2012 13:32

Yay for me too, I like the doll nickname too.

bigbluebump · 14/09/2012 14:47

Great underused name! Due a comeback imo.

BigHairyFlowers · 14/09/2012 14:48

Love it!

Minty82 · 14/09/2012 14:53

Ha - I was talking to a bunch of people the other day about the current wave of Elsies, Arthurs, Mabels etc, and we all agreed that there were limits and some names of that era were unlikely to stage a comeback - such as Doris. How wrong can you be?!

Not a fan I'm afraid, but prepared to concede that it might all be the power of association. I'm sure if I met a cute little Doris I could be converted. If you love it go for it, anyway, nothing inherently wrong with it...

minipie · 14/09/2012 14:54

Seriously? No. Please.

DharmaBumpkin · 14/09/2012 14:58

In Australia / New Zealand, a Doris is slang for a numpty. I wouldn't.

itsjustmeanon · 14/09/2012 15:06

Not keen. Sorry.

fondantfancier · 14/09/2012 16:15

I wanted it as a mn for my daughter but it was vetoed. It was my great aunt's name and I think it's fab...use it coz I can't

YokoUhOh · 14/09/2012 16:29

I love it. Doris Troy was a Northern Soul singer. Very cool name indeed.

HoratiaWinwood · 14/09/2012 17:18

I like Doll or Dolly as nn for Dorothy or Dorothea or Theodora. Just not for Doris.

What next? Edna, Hilda, Gladys, Mavis?

numbertaker · 14/09/2012 17:19

funny I quite like it, yes it is way better than all the 'ies' names.

numbertaker · 14/09/2012 17:20

Damaris is also a nice name.

HiHowAreYou · 14/09/2012 17:25

I really like Doris, AND Mavis.
