Initials WAR?!

If we have a boy our prefered name begins with a W. But we'd like the middle name to be Alistair as it's a family name (but don't love it enough to use as a guest name), which poses a problemas our surname begins with R , which spells WAR. I think he coils just shorten it to WR when initialling things but DH thinks it's a problem.

Little warrior/ baby warmonger -yay or nay?!

Wouldn't bother me at all. Realistically, how often do you ever write your initials? .....or use your middle name for that matter?

I might be bothered if it spelled a rude word but not otherwise.

Badgerina · 14/09/2012 10:02

I couldn't do it. I've vetoed a middle name that DH wanted because it would have given the initials SS...

Leeds2 · 14/09/2012 10:04

I don't think it would bother me, to be honest. Maybe he could have a second middle name, to give him an extra initial?

TudorJess · 14/09/2012 10:05

I wouldn't do it.

How about adding an extra middle name, or swap the two names so you get AWR (but you can still use W......... as day-to-day name).

MrsRhettButler · 14/09/2012 10:07

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest

blondiep14 · 14/09/2012 10:08

How very odd, this morning we also came up with a name that would also spell WAR.
Still haven't decided if it bothers us or not though!

birdofthenorth · 14/09/2012 11:15

We could add an extra name I suppose. Still not sure it bothers me enough to do so, and other DCs just have two names... think I'd rather hange either the first or middle
name than have three first names...

Do you remember the rock band Guns n' Roses?

Axl Rose presented his name as W. Axl Rose (real name is William), so his sage initials are WAR.

It wouldn't put me off a name enough to not give the lad the name you want. It's not like BJ or TIT.

squoosh · 14/09/2012 11:41

Would not bother me one iota!

fallingandlaughing · 14/09/2012 11:48

Why not just stick inan extra middle name?

Little baby warmonger Grin

FriggFRIGG · 15/09/2012 15:45

I couldn't do it.

Stick in another middle name.

SirGOLDBoobs · 15/09/2012 15:47

I couldn't, how horrible. Add in another name, or find a different first name.

We added in another middle name so that DS's initials weren't BJ Grin

LemonLovesLilac · 15/09/2012 22:14

I can't see it as a big problem really

omfgkillmenow · 15/09/2012 22:15

my Rl initials are SAD

LondonInBoots · 15/09/2012 22:44

Not really an issue I don't think - I'm a text message according to my initials -SMS! We did have to can a planned name when I realised that it spelt out TWAT, we will however, keep the ECT and SAT initials cos its not a big issue and I cba to think of another name! WAR is quite a cool one though, if it does bother you just stick in another mn.

nancy75 · 15/09/2012 23:02

I've posted this many times on mums net, my initials are worse than any I have ever seen mentioned on here. It doesn't matter, I was never bullied about it, in 37 years it has been commented on a handful of times if that, it's really not a problem

Wiggy29 · 16/09/2012 07:32

Really not a big deal, as others have said, you rarely use middle name, let alone initials.

seeker · 16/09/2012 07:47

It wouldn't necessarily bother me if the initials spelled a word- but I couldn't have that word, sorry. But we are a pacifist household!

My niece is CAT- she loves it.

Oh, and don't think that you never use middle names or initials- all children go through a phase in about year 5 of spelling names backwards, anagramming names- all that sort of thing. Belinda Ursula Morris would have be very "brave" at this point!
