Girls names to go with an unusual, no just bloody awkward surname.

Ok so DD2 (DC3) is due in January. DH and I are very indecisive and found out the sex with all of the DC's (among other reasons) so we would only have to think of one name as to have to pick two would prob mean killing eachother! As a result we don't have a list of leftover names from DD1 and have a bloody awkward surname to deal with. Its an old occupational/modern criminal name that begins with S and anything remotely unusual just sounds wrong or will leave DD open to an awful lot of playground stick. So it needs to be a proper name - other DC's are Caitlin and Keir. Any and all suggestions welcome as we well and truly stuck!

Modern criminal? Is that a DYAC or am I being thick?

A friend had an Aisling this morning, which I like lots and seems to fit with your others.

Horatia, Aisling is a lovely name and I am Irish so that would fit but unfortunately anything with the initial A would leave DD as 'A. Modern Criminal' (Its only relatively recently been made a criminal offence).

Oh I see what you mean (racking brains but failing) - so your surname is a noun?

Eithne then. Love it so much.

I am desperate to know what your last name could be, but can't work it out!

Someone guess so I can go to sleep.

LeeCoakley · 08/09/2012 22:26

Swindler? Shafter? Scallywag? I'm intrigued.

ItsMeYourCathy · 08/09/2012 22:27

Yes, I was thinking Stalker!

LeeCoakley · 08/09/2012 22:28

Oh yes, I was at school with someone called Anne S--.

ninipops · 08/09/2012 22:32

Ok Broom you can sleep easy - my secret (or rather my DH's) is out. I kept my own name when we married, much to the disgust of my in-laws! BUt you can see our dilemma - ridiculous combinations so far have included Iona, Daisy (or any other flower) anything beginning with A.

I love Lois but if you're irish what about Mairead or Roisin. I think they both sound lovely with your surname and fit in with Caitlin and Keir too.

Susie

bonnieslilsister · 08/09/2012 23:43

I was thinking Susie too. Sounds great together with 2nd name. or another name beginning with S like Serena

I know an angela yoursurname. And it has honestly never occurred to me. It's not an unusual surname here in Scotland. I think you might be over thinking it a wee bit. It not as bad as Pratt or twatt! I know one of each!

SophySinclair · 11/09/2012 00:45

Actually Roisin is lovely with your surname. Softens it a bit !!

trumpton · 11/09/2012 00:57

Not S please . Poor child would be SS . So either Nazi when doing History or Social Services when doing PSE .
