opinions please. Other DC are Henry and Joseph.
I think I like it but keep singing "the singing aubergine" after saying it.

Are you intending to spell it as in the thread title?

CaptainHetty · 03/09/2012 08:13

If you spell it properly, I think it's a nice name, yes.

moogster1a · 03/09/2012 08:15

oops. Yes, Sebastian! ( Better not do that on the birth certificate)

PopcornCity · 03/09/2012 08:27

I like it and it goes nicely with the other two names.

bigbluebump · 03/09/2012 12:39

Sebastian is nice but unfortunately it has no nice nicknames - Seb, Sebbie, Sebba, Basty, Bastian...? Seb reminds me of sebacious and doesn't sound 'solid' enough imo.

How about Tristan, Caspian or Quentin - all have a similar feel to Sebastian but aren't inevitably shortened.

tammytoby · 03/09/2012 12:44

Agree about the lack of nice nicknames. Otherwise a nice name.

SandStorm · 03/09/2012 12:51

I'm going against the grain here in that I dislike Sebastian but like Seb and Sebby.

MolatovBomb · 03/09/2012 16:36

I really like the name Sebastian. If DD1 had been a boy, it was on my shortlist. However, when I mentioned it to friends (and even my DH) literally EVERYONE said it was a 'gay' - as in homosexual - name for a boy.

I don't bloody know what a 'gay' name is, anyway ...

AWomanCalledHorse · 03/09/2012 16:39

Two of the names you mention in your op/threadtitle are DS's first name & one of his middle names...the other is the other name we were thinking of!

You have bloody excellent taste. Grin

ErikNorseman · 03/09/2012 16:45

I like it, and I like Seb too.

moogster1a · 03/09/2012 16:51

Sounding all very positive! Thanks everyone. Might well be a little singing aubergine then.

Badgerina · 04/09/2012 00:23

I like it a lot. It is a shame about the lack of nick names though, I agree.

Would you get him a teddy bear called Aloysius? Grin

Badgerina · 04/09/2012 00:24

By the way, you are going to HAVE to explain this singing aubergine malarkey! What are you on about, woman?! Grin

WhatWouldVegansDo · 04/09/2012 01:30

Badgerina, Sebastian is a singing aubergine in Mr.Bloom's Nursery.
Thanks, OP; I now have that tune in my head! :)

ballroompink · 04/09/2012 10:18

My DS is Sebastian. Love it and we always get a lot of compliments on 'what a lovely name' it is.

KirstyJC · 04/09/2012 10:21

We have a little singing aubergine. And Sebby is his nickname. It's a fab name, go for it!

squoosh · 04/09/2012 12:03

Love Sebastian. So manly.

BonaDea · 04/09/2012 12:12

I love it. Unfortunately DH hates it and it is his brother's middle name (I really don't think we can start worrying about other people's middle names?!) so he has vetoed. Gutted.

sonnieboo · 04/09/2012 13:02

Shame about the lack of nicknames. I agree that Seb sounds like sebacious (oily) and Basty too much like bastard....

PuppyMonkey · 04/09/2012 13:09

I really liked this name until one time at a pub, there was a woman doing really loud, show-off parenting at the next table:

Sebastian, eat up Sebastian
That's a fork Sebastian, what is it? That's right Sebastian, a fork.
Look at mummy eating all her peas, Sebastian. Isn't mummy clever, Sebastian?
Sebastian, don't do that or Sebastian will get a poorly tummy.
Shall we change your nappy, Sebastian? Has Sebastian done a little poo.

I nearly swung for bleddy Sebastian in the end. Or his mum anyway.

pixiestix · 04/09/2012 13:10

I like it. It goes well with your other two names.
