For a girl. Any thoughts?

as a NN for June?

twooter · 26/08/2012 20:31

As nickname only, definitely not on birth certificate.

manicinsomniac · 26/08/2012 20:43

Not as a stand alone name.

emilysmi · 26/08/2012 20:46

Like it

MeerkatMerkin · 26/08/2012 20:58

I was thinking just Juney. After a beautiful lady I know. June... reminds me of an accountant my mum used to work with so wouldn't use that as the name on the birth certificate. :)

If you love it then yes, put it on the list!

MrsBingo · 26/08/2012 22:16

This name stopped me because I had to think how to pronounce it: like June, but with an -ee at the end?

BackforGood · 26/08/2012 22:21

I'm presuming June (ke the month) with an "eeee" on the end ?

Definitely sounds like an embarassing pet name for someone called June to me.

germyrabbit · 26/08/2012 22:21

just june is nicer

IceCubes · 26/08/2012 22:22

Sounds like a nn. How about Juno or Juniper?

Yeah June-ey.. I think of it as understated and fun! But point taken. :) Juniper is lovely but would it be 'try hard' compared to the simplicity of Juney? I don't know, doesn't seem to have the same feel?

Juno I couldn't do because of the film, and also because it seems a lot more masculine than Juney.

Genuine question, is it the same as Elsie, Alfie, Charlie etc, in the sense that it could be a given name as opposed to a NN? I personally always found those names a bit twee but somehow Juney doesn't have that same feel to me? No idea if it is just me though.

I think you run the risk of people getting her name wrong and thinking it is a typo of 'Jenny.' Personally I think kids should be given the 'option' of having a 'proper' version of a name but if you really like it then why not. I'm sure there must be other long versions of names similar to Juney other than Juniper. I think it's kind of cool though- she'd be the only Juniper in school!

CanoeSlalom · 26/08/2012 22:49

It's a nice nickname but I wouldn't use it as a stand-alone name.

suedpantsoffem · 26/08/2012 22:49

Sorry but I think Juney is awful. It's A made up name, and she will always have to tell people how to spell or pronounce it.
June is quite nice though. You don't hear if many Junes these days

iheartmycat · 26/08/2012 22:55

I much prefer Janey, or even Juniper.

Juney just sounds a bit daft - sorry!

CanoeSlalom · 26/08/2012 22:56

Julia, Juliet, Jennifer?

I like Juliet - but wouldn't that automatically be shortened to Julie?

June or Janey both great. Juney is not.

MeerkatMerkin · 26/08/2012 23:21

My friend is suggesting Juanita - I think this is going off the scale though! :) Might have to shelve it if it is as awful as a standalone name as most here think it is. Thanks for the input though!

No!

ErikNorseman · 27/08/2012 13:38

It isn't a suitable name on its own.

SleepyFergus · 27/08/2012 13:41

I do like June but it's a bit mumsy for me!
