A nod to my Welsh father and a sibling to Charles and Wilfred - Charlie, Wilf and Griff.

What do you think?

I like it

I prefer Griffin - I can't get my tongue around the 'ff' and 'th' combination. I feel like I'm lisping!

AuraofDora · 23/08/2012 20:48

was thinking Griffin would be easier myself

like your name momdeguerre!

BulletProofMum · 23/08/2012 20:49

Like it

needsgirlname · 23/08/2012 20:50

i prefer Griffin, not keen on the "th" sound..

Momdeguerre · 23/08/2012 20:55

Thanks AuraofDora Smile

We are still considering Griffin but it's just a bit less traditional and I think people might make the mythological connection rather than the Welsh connection.

Griffin is much nicer.Griffith doesn't roll off one's tongue very well. Griffin seems very Welsh to me,not that I know all that much about Wales and Welsh culture.

I like it

Ham69 · 23/08/2012 21:00

I love the names of your other boys. Sorry, I can't say 'Griffith' without feeling like I'm lisping.

FasterHigherBeardierDaddyman · 23/08/2012 21:06

What's so difficult about saying Griffith? Has everyone here had their tongue removed? Can you say fifth? Then you can say Griffith!

It's a lovely name and it's a yes from me :)

WithACherryOnTop · 23/08/2012 21:09

Fifth has only one 'ith' sound though.

FasterHigherBeardierDaddyman · 23/08/2012 21:11

Okay...

Gri-fifth.

Hth.

WithACherryOnTop · 23/08/2012 21:17

That's still two 'if' sounds.

Ham69 · 23/08/2012 21:24

It's the 'if ith'. Totally different to saying 'fifth'.

LynetteScavo · 23/08/2012 21:26

Not keen on the th on the end.

Griffin is lovely (as are Charles and Wilfred)

GnocchiNineDoors · 23/08/2012 21:27

Griff was on our shortlist for boys, and if we put a longer version on the BC it would have been Griffin.

Sadly, I can now.not use it due to dds name but LOVE Griff.

FasterHigherBeardierDaddyman · 23/08/2012 21:28

And 2 ifs trouble you why?

In actual fact there is one "if" and one "ith". Different sounds. Try saying them out loud and listen for the difference.

FasterHigherBeardierDaddyman · 23/08/2012 21:31

ham

Griff-ith
Gri-fifth

They're both easy and sound the same.

Fasterhigher that is exactly what 'troubles' me. Maybe it's because 'Griffiths' is a fairly popular surname, so 'Griffith' sounds like someone is trying to say 'Griffiths', but with a speech impediment. Not that I'm knocking speech impediments

PretzelTime · 23/08/2012 21:36

Nooo
Griffin is better.

Takver · 23/08/2012 21:36

I love Griffith, and I can't see that it's difficult to pronounce. Griffin isn't a Welsh name!

And anyway since you'd be using Griff as a nname then you have a dead easy one syllable name for everyday

eatyourveg · 23/08/2012 21:38

I'd go for Gruffydd too
