Can you name DD2 Freya, or does it sound too similar?
This is the only girls name we can agree on

IMO they sound very similar, but I know enough people who have rhymed their children's names... What do YOU think about it?

Iheartpasties · 21/08/2012 10:22

they dont really rhyme in my opinion.

Trazzletoes · 21/08/2012 10:33

Sorry, I wasn't saying they rhyme, but I do think they sound similar. I was saying that I know people whose children's names rhyme, rhyming names obviously sound similar and that didn't deter their name choice, in fact they actively chose their children to have similar names. Anyway, it's your choice, if you like the name and think they go together, who else cares?

MammaTonic · 21/08/2012 17:44

They're only similar in that they both end in 'a' sounds. To me, that's fine; nice for sisters. I don't see any problems.

They're not too similar.

Labootin · 21/08/2012 18:12

Samantha is nice and underused at the moment

Daya · 21/08/2012 18:16

It'd be fine, they don't rhyme so really no problem imo.

wigglesrock · 21/08/2012 19:45

I have 3 daughters, all 3 of their names end in a. I didn't realise until someone mentioned it when dd2 was about 5 days old, never ever bothered me Grin Freya is a lovely name.

BillyBollyBandy · 21/08/2012 19:46

Not too same-y to me

Both DD's names end in -ia and I didn't notice for the first few weeks Blush

wigglesrock · 21/08/2012 19:48

Oh I've just realised BillyBollyBandy that dd1 and dd2 names end in -ia, not just -a Grin. Well I think I can safely say that I didn't overthink my childrens names Blush

BillyBollyBandy · 21/08/2012 20:17

Haha wigglesrock brilliant! If me and you didn't notice what are the chances anyone else will Grin

Clary · 21/08/2012 22:20

No, they are fine, surely. Ella and Freya?

No worse than Ameila and Olivia, Ellie and Libby, Molly and Lily, all sibsets I know that no-one raises an eyebrow at.

0lympia · 22/08/2012 00:05

I'd put a B in front of Ella, just to give it its own consonant, so that it stood apart from Freya a bit more. Freya and Bella. If it's Freya and Ella, then to me Ella sounds a bit overshadowed by Freya.

0lympia · 22/08/2012 00:08

oh, time for bed I think. You already have ELLA.

TodaysAGoodDay · 22/08/2012 00:10

Ella and Freya sounds fine together, both short, both pretty, neither can have awful shortened versions. Good choice.

MrsTomHardy · 22/08/2012 00:14

2 of my ds have similar sounding Irish names.....I was wary at first but tbh they are individual people, different ages and I live their names Smile

MrsTomHardy · 22/08/2012 00:14

Love not live!!

Pochemuchka · 22/08/2012 00:25

I have an Ella too and think Freya is lovely.

They go well together IMO.

justaphasejustaphase · 22/08/2012 09:26

Thank you everyone for your help.
I do like Freya, was just a bit concerned about the 'a' ending, well, that and the fact I really wanted Catherine or Harriet but Dp doesn't like them.
