Dh's parents have named new cat the name we were considering for child

Am 5 months pg and we are in the midst of name discussions hence my many threads here. Dh's parents told us yesterday they have got a new cat. Which came from cat's home with a cat name. But they have renamed it one of our frontrunners (without knowing - we don't discuss names with people).

Dh says we can use it anyway as it's just a cat. We go to their house about once a month. But I am a bit grrrr. What do you think?

They could change the name of the cat if you do decide to go with that name for your DC (presume you know whether girl or boy?) I would do nothing for now.

Don't know whether girl or boy

I can't see a problem, there won't be much confusion as i assume cats live mostly outdoors and you only visit once a month anyway.
Nice name, more suited to a child than a cat imho

Oh my dogs called anabella

I know a woman who named her DS after her dead horse whom she lived dearly so I don't think your child sharing the cats name will be an issue. One or the other of them (or both) will end up with a pet name or nickname at some point anyway. I refer to my DS as monkey, I mostly use his actual name if he's been naughty and I call the dog "YOU!" as neither if them respond to whatever I call them anyway.lol

Annabel is just not a cat name at all.

Agree with frontpaw

Our new neighbour's little girl (aged 3) had the same name as our cat (aged 12). The little girl was thrilled to find out that our cat had the same name - she thought it was hysterical Grin

My DD has the same name as my mum's cat. The cat is ancient now and I named it myself when I was 15. I tried to find a name I liked as much for DD but just kept coming back to it. The poor cat seems to have lost its name now and nobody calls it anything but "cat" anymore.

Ps, My Manager at work has just bought a dog and given it the same name as my DS!
