Just Jim or would you have to have James?

James is fine. Jim. Really?

MarjorieAntrobus · 14/08/2012 07:24

James, with Jim as nn.
Gives the boy some choices in the future.
Jim isn't quite enough of a name really, imo.

karatekimmi · 14/08/2012 07:33

I like jim! Would probably go with James on his birth certificate.

mrsmorgy · 14/08/2012 07:42

I have a friend who has a Jimmy. Just jimmy. Think it's a lovely name now it's grown on me! Wasn't too sure at first! Go with your gut Smile

I would definitely go with James - love the name but dont like Jim / Jimmy at all. Having James on the birth certificate would at least give him options for the future in case he didnt like Jim either.

countrybumpkin2 · 14/08/2012 07:55

My brother is James on his birth certificate but has always been Jim. My mum regrets not just putting the name Jim on the certificate. You get some really ignorant people like teachers who refuse to use a child's nickname even when that's what they are known as.

drtachyon · 14/08/2012 09:13

I would put James on birth certificate with Jim as nickname.

imustbepatient · 14/08/2012 09:18

James on BC, Jim for nickname. As others said, that gives him more options to use at different stages of his life and also covers things in case he doesn't like 'Jim' as a name as much as you do.

James with Jim as nickname.
