Oliver - it's nice, but quite popular.

Warren - I think it's quite a dated name, sorry.

Barnaby - love it, but biased as I have one!

Rowan - love it, i know a few Rowans and they are all lovely.

Hugo - it's nice too, not my favourite.

Rowan is the best.

then Barnaby, then Hugo, then Oliver.

really dislike Warren, sorry.

MrsJohnDeere · 07/08/2012 20:01

Best Hugo
Worst Warren
Indifferent to the others

WinkyWinkola · 07/08/2012 20:03

Barnaby
Hugo
Oliver

The rest in not keen on.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 07/08/2012 20:10

Oliver - v.popular, ok with me but there are a lot of them about

Warren - dated, lots of them in my age group (40s) also nickname Wozza or similar (no disrespect to your GP)

Barnaby - just no, I really don't like it. I don't like names ending in y for boys.

Rowan - yes but prefer spelling Roan for a boy

Hugo - yes but a but a bit posh

Muffincrumpet · 07/08/2012 20:33

Barnaby or Oliver

Littleplasticpeople · 07/08/2012 20:35

Like them all apart from Oliver. I don't necessarily dislike Oliver, it's just I think it's extremely dull.

Favourite is Barnaby, it's on my list.

TenthMuse · 07/08/2012 20:40

Oliver - extremely dull I'm afraid
Rowan - adore, but for a girl. I think it's one of the few names that is genuinely androgynous though.
Barnaby - cute. Not overused but not weird either.
Hugo - I know it's not posh any more, but it still has a slightly 'stuffy' feel for me
Warren - don't like as a fn - possible as mn (esp as a second mn, as it could plausibly be a surname)

MoonHare · 07/08/2012 21:07

Like Oliver - it would probably top our 'boys names' list but as others have said it's just sooo popular (no.1 name) right now, which puts me off. You might not mind though.

Rowan - agree that it has become a girls name. How about Rohan?

Barnaby - love it but am of the 'Barnaby the Bear' generation. Trying to persuade my DH that it's a contender though.

Hugo - I don't like this, puts me in mind of sweaty overweight city bankers in pink shirts.

Warren - not keen though respect your family reasons for considering it.

Alternative ideas; Reuben, Toby, Gregory, Jasper, Fraser, Wyatt, Piers, Caspar.

Ham69 · 07/08/2012 21:17

Love love love Hugo. Don't think it's too posh at all. Not these days.
Oliver's lovely but lots and lots of them around.
Don't mind Barnaby, went to school with a nice one.
Rowan's not to my taste.
Knew 2 Warrens growing up and they both went by 'Wazza' which wasn't great! Prob not quite ready for a revival, but great as a middle name because of the family connection.

BooBumpDaddyandMe · 07/08/2012 22:04

Rowan Atkinson is the only Rowan I can think of - never occurred to me that it was a girls name. Like it so much that I am adding it to my own (very short) list! Just commented on a Barnaby link earlier today - I love it- started calling my bump Barnaby as a joke but it might just stick :-)
The only one I don't like is Warren but the family link makes it a perfect middle name.
