I've never come across "Deserae" before and don't take to it.

Ralph is fine, but are you OK with the likely need to correct the pronunciation if people read out the other one on first encounter?

VolAuVent · 03/08/2012 07:41

Wouldn't it be Desiree?

rachel234 · 03/08/2012 07:46

Desiree and Ralph are good but spelt the correct way.

rachel234 · 03/08/2012 07:47

Why would you not pronounce Ralph as that, Ral-ph?

EdithWeston · 03/08/2012 08:30

Because the older, traditional pronunciation, still in use, is "Rafe"

Desirée is a lovely name, especially if it has resonance for you. But I don't see Deserae as the same pronunciation - does it reflect an older French form?

xmasevebundle · 03/08/2012 12:52

deseriee its the same.. but spelt another way. i dont really like that spelling :( yes as in ral-ph... like ralph lauren the designer..

Desiree is the correct spelling so I'm afraid Deserae will just look wrongly spelled?

What about Aimee, Amy, Adora, Cara, Cherie, Carina, Carissa - all mean loved, beloved or darling

xmasevebundle · 03/08/2012 15:08

yeah thats the correct spelling but i dont think it looks right?? i did have scarlett-rose but thats going to get popular after eastenders.. its either desirae or deserae i dont no which way but :(

minipie · 03/08/2012 15:20

Desiree is right (it should have an accent over both Es). Desirae is better than Deserae IMO.

xmasevebundle · 03/08/2012 15:57

yeah i do warm towards the desirae more.. i cant do on my phone and its ment to be a smart phone!!!

SOrry, any spelling of it just says Jeremy Kyle or Jerry Springer for me.

seeker · 03/08/2012 16:06

Whyndonyou want to spell it incorrectly?

xmasevebundle · 03/08/2012 16:36

Oh gosh thats abit bad. I dont want a common name like jack or evie.

My name is savannah and really wanted a name like that for my daughter

Sorry, that was incredibly rude of me. I love your name! I know what you mean, we don't like the common ones either. I love the meaning behind the name you've chosen- perhaps Ive just watched too much JK! ALthough there can never be too much JK on maternity leave.

I think your boys names are great.

My preferred spelling would be Desiree with an accent over the last e otherwise the old french name becomes a modern one.

newby2 · 03/08/2012 17:17

And we're due Xmas Day, would love a xmassy name but can't think of any we like!

minipie · 03/08/2012 18:00

Aniera and Eira - Welsh names meaning snow

Angela, Angelina - like Christmas angels

Seraphine, Seraphina, Serafina - highest ranks of angels

Stella, Estella, Estelle - meaning star

Seren - Welsh name meaning star

Ivy, Juniper - Christmas greenery

Bianca - means "white"

xmasevebundle · 03/08/2012 18:20

EdithWeston · 03/08/2012 18:47

Is Crossroads far enough in the past for Noelle to be usable again?

bullrush · 05/08/2012 21:49

we have a christmas baby, but didnt give her a christmassy name,
I love the name Stan

manicinsomniac · 06/08/2012 22:49

I have a Savannah. Great name imo!

I'm not especially keen on Desiree but I agree with you that your spelling on Desirae is somehow nicer, even if not technically correct! The meaning behind it is beautiful.

What about Natalie, Natalia or Natasha for Christmas baby? Or Robyn? Maybe too obvious.
