I love the gymnasts names:

Alyia
Anastacia etc

A male swimmer called Camille!

Anyone else seen other good or unusual names?

You sure you noticed Camille Lacourt because of his name? or because of his abs and unbelievingly blue eyes? :o

Camille is unisex name in France and it is getting v popular for boys (was for girls in the 90's).

The Italian fencing team: Elisa, Arianna & Valentina
Swimmers: Like Yolane and Inge

Opposition Buzz

Rebecca seems to be a winning name so far!

rezzle · 30/07/2012 23:25

There was a swimmer earlier called Breeja, which I thought was lovely.

joanofarchitrave · 30/07/2012 23:27

Ruta is a nice one from today IMO

MagdalenaAlec · 30/07/2012 23:32

I see there are many swimming followers here :o
Poor Camille lost tonight, so maybe not such a great name, might think about Yannick instead.

Quite like Breeja too, not keen on Ruta (prefer Ruth).

I was watching the US/Brazil women's volley ball.

Now think about this, if your surname is Hooker what would you call your little girl?

A clue

It begins with D

Pootle78 · 31/07/2012 10:39

Similar to sashh , was watching the volleyball and on the GB team there was Jen (not so bad?) surname Taylor. I presume there's a reason she doesn't go by Jenny!!!

mrstowers · 31/07/2012 13:07

How about Missy, the swimmer from the USA?

Kittenkatzen · 31/07/2012 15:26

sashh - Destinee!! I saw that - spat my tea at the tellybox i did :o

EdithWeston · 31/07/2012 15:34

How is Breeja pronounced? It looks to me like a creative spelling of Breagh (a name I think is lovely btw).

Ruta Graveolens is the botanical name for the herb rue, so you might want to swerve of meanings/associations are important to you. (I'd worry that it would turn into "Rutter" in the playground - possibly making it even worse in the 'what doesn't go with Hooker?' stakes).

hth :)

rezzle · 31/07/2012 18:52

Breeja = Bree-a :)

One from the gymnastics I liked was Elsabeth.

sashh · 01/08/2012 05:41

The prize goes to Kitten.

OK for a bonus what was the surname of the US swimmer Misty? (not these olympics, previous one)

Margerykemp · 01/08/2012 19:49

Helen and Heather would be nice names for twins.

Wiggo!!

deste · 02/08/2012 22:08

I work with a Zsuzsanna.

Having just watched her amazing performance, I think Ennis is a good name, especially for a boy, but would work for a girl I reckon. :)
