what do you think of Erica Isobel?

Erica for 1st name and Isobel for 2nd?
We had Rosie for DD1 and have just found out new one is DD2!
I've really liked Isabella but loads of people keep saying how common it is. I've come across Isobel but not Isabella (yet!).
We liked Rosie because there was no-one else we knew with it but it wasn't 'wacky'.
Amazingly, DH didn't go 'yuk' when I suggested Erica so we might be onto a winner??
Couldn't think of anything that would be OK as a middle name>
We have a one-syllable surname starting with L so it's a bit tricky.
Any thoughts??

I love Erica, v nice choice. Not keen on Isobel after Erica, since I believe it should be easier to pronounce if it started with a consonant (e.g. Erica Mabel, Erica Sophie..).

As an alternative to Isobel/Isabella, there are also Isabelle (French) and Isadora (Spanish). Love the latter!

Erica and Isobel are both very nice but not sure they flow well together. Agree that a middle name starting with a consonant could work nicely.

Erica Juliet
Erica May
Erica Lucy
Erica Willow
Erica Sophie
Erica Grace
Erica Miranda
Erica Georgina
Erica Holly
Erica Jasmine

I don't like Erica. Love isobel. Isobel is such a beautiful name while Erica is harsh sounding girly-fied man-name Eric.

Isobel.

NurseBernard · 27/07/2012 07:46

Isobel Erica flows much more nicely.

peggyblackett · 27/07/2012 07:51

Love Isobel, really don't like Erica.

I'm sure there was an Erica in an Enid Blyton book (Malory?) that was really sneaky - it makes me think of her!

redrubyshoes · 27/07/2012 10:56

I find the name Erica very hard sounding but Isobel is pretty. Not sure they go together either, Isobel needs a softer counterpart like Charlotte.

AKMD · 27/07/2012 11:49

I love Erica and Isabella. I have yet to see an Isabella among the my friends' hordes of babies and toddlers so I'd use it if you like it.

goingtoofast · 27/07/2012 11:52

I think Erica is an unpleasent harsh name especially compared to Rosie which is a lovely name.

FamiliesShareGerms · 27/07/2012 11:52

I like the combination. Isabelle (in all its different spellings and variations) is quite popular at the moment (eg three in our immediate friends and family), so personally would avoid.

Depends on surname, though - if begins with an "O", avoid (think about Old Macdonald.... Grin )

Viviennemary · 27/07/2012 12:14

Don't think the two names go together very well. Not keen on Erica. But love your original choice Isabella.

AnnaFender · 27/07/2012 12:16

I love the name Erica, but would never be able to use it as Eric is a long lost family member that no one is allowed to talk to or about and my Grandmother would never speak to me again! So use it, because I can't!

Catsu · 27/07/2012 12:19

Erica is great. I love strong girls names. My dd is philippa

belgo · 27/07/2012 12:21

Really like the name Erica, and it fits in with the nature theme of your dd1's name.

RubyFakeNails · 27/07/2012 13:05

I can't abide Erica, but I like Isobel.
