If I call her Aurora, would it just make you think of this weeks tragedy?

Borealis is a lovely middle name (ThePathanKhansWitch)

Wow people watch a lot of Disney! I didn't know it was until I bought my son a puzzle with it on a few weeks ago. It's the Romangoddess of Dawn that swung it for me...I think she's been around a bit longer...

I don't watch a lot of Disney in the present tense, but I may have watched it a number of times as a child when we didn't have very many videos.

squoosh · 23/07/2012 16:25

To be honest I only remember her name as I always thought the she was the most rubbish of all Disney princesses. And that's quite a competitive category!

phlebas · 23/07/2012 16:31

no

harbingerofdoom · 23/07/2012 16:33

Makes me think of a cruise ship Smile

"Wow people watch a lot of Disney!"

Was that meant to be passive-aggressive? I've been practising spotting PA posts since the PA thread came out.

We don't watch any Disney (my DD1 is terrified of all Disney films Hmm there's always some kind of dark scene in them which scares her senseless).

Still know who Aurora is though, since she was given all the Disney Princess books for her birthday.

patosullivan · 23/07/2012 17:10

No. I had to google Aurora to figure out which tragedy you meant. The news coverage I saw just referred to Denver.

Makes me think of the Northern Lights.

DilysPrice · 23/07/2012 17:28

When's she due? If she were due Right Now then I'd be very wary, because it's so close to the day of her birth - imagine if she went to college in the US and they were doing a news piece about "twenty years ago today" just as she's planning her birthday party.
If she's not due until September then go for it, but I personally think it's a sod to pronounce.

Nemonemo · 23/07/2012 18:10

Ummm....yeah definitely was meaning to be AP Hmm. haven't seen the thread you're talking about, but this is baby names not AIBU, so it's not really the arena for it, is it?

No, I am surprised so many people think of the Disney princess, but it's obviously my not-knowing that's odd. I didn't watch them, and my son is also freaked by Disney and ends up tears halfway through.

I also am not bothered by the Disney association though, nor it's pronunciation issues. Just whether it'd be like calling her Osama straight after 9/11.

trixymalixy · 23/07/2012 18:17

No, it makes me think of sleeping beauty.

Queenofsiburbia · 23/07/2012 18:29

That's my baby name! I love it, have always wanted to call my DD Aurora and now am pregnant DH has used one of his vetoes Sad
He has pointed out that our surname starts with W and would be very unfortunate if she had a Jonathon Woss problem!!

Please choose it, just for me Smile

Frikadellen · 23/07/2012 19:38

I think lovely. Only association is sleeping beauty for me

Nemonemo · 11/08/2012 20:31

...definitely decided against this having mulled it over.
I'd bought the letters for the nursery Walls and everything! Doh!
