I don't think it's too much especially as you'll just be using her first name most of the time (presumably?)

CandyPop · 23/07/2012 11:27

Yeah Josephine will be her middle name :)

Love the name Emily ESP Millie for short but worried that it's too popular and she would be one of several kids in her class with the same name Hmm

Nah it will be fine Smile

She may have a job on fitting the name into boxes on forms mind Grin

Emily/Millie are popular names at the moment so you would run the risk of her not being the only one in her class. You need to weigh up how much that actually bothers you vs how much you love the name. I did actively avoid names that were 'too popular' but that's just how i feel.

Love the name Josephine though....it's lovely. Smile

Emily is fine but VERY popular. I think Emily was THE most widely used girls name about 5-6 years ago. Currently Milly/Millie is very very popular too.

So yes, whilst it is a nice name, your dd will probably have to share her name with others and may need a modifier to identify her (e.g. surname initial, adjective like big Emily/Millie, etc).

I personally would choose a less popular name but perhaps you're less bothered by popularity.

It's lovely. Can't see a problem with a 2 syllable surname. Flows nicely IMO.

Frikadellen · 23/07/2012 19:44

i think it is fine with 2 syllable if it was double barrel perhaps a bit much

DawnOfTheDee · 23/07/2012 19:45

Btw my DD has a 3 syllable first name and surname (and a 2 syllable middle name)... Grin
