Pronounced Sar-ra, as opposed to Sarah.

What do you think when you hear it?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Like it. Though v pronounce it saa-raa

IawnCont · 17/07/2012 14:43

Love it. It's how we'd say it in Wales. (Sah-ra)

sparkle12mar08 · 17/07/2012 15:01

Love it. My best friend as a child was called Sara pr Sar-ra. But you will get a lot of mispronunciation if people don't hear you say it first.

NoComet · 17/07/2012 15:29

I went to school in Wales so itju

I know two sara's as apposed to sarah and they spend a lot of time correcting people and getting hacked off about their name being mispronounced, so personally I wouldn't do it.

VolAuVent · 17/07/2012 16:13

Lovely name :)

My name is Sara but pronounced Sarah, people always ask, is it Sara or Sarah, tbh I would of preferred it pronounced sah ra

Trazzletoes · 17/07/2012 17:26

Whatever happens people will mis-pronounce it. I'm a Sarah but always get asked if it's Sah ra Confused Like Sah ra though.

I don't really like Sair-uh or Sar-ah. I was born in the early 1980s and went to school with a lot of girls with the name (with either pronunciation). I think the name is a little dull (sorry).

I can see the appeal in the name, however; it's sturdy and certainly suits a teenager/woman. I'm inclined to say that I prefer Zara - it's more exciting IMO and there's no mistaking its pronunciation.
