Belle
Dulcie
Elise (to rhyme with 'geese')
Idalia (i-DAR-lee-a)
Mia (MY-a)
Valentina.

Half are my favourites, half are my husband's. We are having a difficult time deciding. Would love to know what you think of our list. You can be as honest as you like, we can take it Grin.

Thanks.

Sorry to appropriate yet more of your time, but we are now down to four:

Dulcie
Elise
Idalia
Valentina.

If anybody has any comments on our shorter shortlist, or would like to add to it with any suggestions, please go ahead.

Thanks Smile

Still Elise Smile

You picked my favourite three, plus Idalia, which I don't like.

I'd knock off Elise next myself, just because the last baby I know born was called Elise, and I seem to see it quite often here...

Of the other two, hmm. Can't decide. Dulcie and Valentina are both very pretty.
What would the nicknames for Valentina be? I don't really like Val or Tina...

Yama · 29/07/2012 09:04

Of your final four I love Elise. I wouldn't need to be told how to pronounce it.

I do think that Valentina is a lovely name but really dislike the nicknames Val and Tina.

Dulcie has 'Dul' in it so not keen. Idalia I've never heard of and would prefer it pronounced without the 'r'.

Thanks everyone. DH has just added another one... Savannah. Do you like it?

No-but Susannah is lovely.

Belle-I think it's a fat girl's name.

Dulcie- Another fat name.

Elise (to rhyme with 'geese')- A nice name, but would you have to tell everyone how to pronounce it?

Idalia (i-DAR-lee-a)- Again, pronunciation might be difficult. This isn't a common name round these parts. It would seem a bit pretentious if you and DH only have British roots.

Mia (MY-a)- I associate it with a slutty girl, sorry.

Valentina.- Nice and unusual, but again pretentious if you and DH only have British roots.

Sorry for being so mean :(

Love Elise and like Belle as a nn for Isobel.

Don't like Dulcie or Idalia.

We don't live in the UK and my DH isn't British, so I guess we have a bit more creative licence than most.

Ecgwynn, your comments really made me laugh Grin
