I know someone with an Isabella and an Ababelle.

DawnOfTheDee · 15/07/2012 19:05

Well i wouldn't personally...

tanfastic · 15/07/2012 19:05

Anabelle even

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 15/07/2012 19:05

No - well you could, but it would be a bit daft.

Passmethecrisps · 15/07/2012 19:06

Why not? They don't end in exactly the same way

tanfastic · 15/07/2012 19:06

Although personally I wouldn't.

MammaTonic · 15/07/2012 19:09

I don't think it's the best combination, sorry. I've been in a similar situation and chose to rule out a few names I really likes for DD2 because they were just too similar in sound to DD1s name. For you, it's the ella/elle endings. I would avoid this.

Maybe you could move forward by selecting names with similar meanings to Annabelle? It means 'grace and beauty'.

HTH!

I thought this might be the case, thank you for your very quick help!

might end up with 2 belles if their schoolfriends pick the same nn for them!
Genevieve is a perfect name to go with such a pretty name as isabella, i've got both plus dd3 with the beautiful name of madeleine!
Good luck!

Cookiesandcream06 · 15/07/2012 20:09

Hello strawberry they are both lovely names but I wouldn't personally. Although is your Isabella shortened to Bella? Isabella is in my top 3 Grin I think you could find another lovely name to go with it for new DD.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 15/07/2012 20:14

Hi Cookies Grin ooh my first hello on a another post, high five me!

I do always shorten Isabella to Bella (unless she's been naughty and then the middle name gets involved too) I highly recommend it as a name!! I love the names Madeleine and Genevieve too, they are going on my list.

I think you should use whatever name you feel fits. Dd2s name will be quite similar to dd1. Not intentionally, it is just the only name oh and I can agree on. We figure that the only time it will be noticeable is when we write Christmas cards and we can live with that. I think your daughters will be individuals and most of their lives will be living and known separately.
I think you can use the name if you like it. They also both have quite diff sounding nicknames you could go with, both names are quite versatile

Geranium3 · 15/07/2012 20:19

I'm sooo happy you like my dd's names, their middle names are rose, daisy and eleanor

Cookiesandcream06 · 15/07/2012 20:34

I really like Madeline, I have Maddison in 4th place I really like Maddie Smile

Daisy is the name I loved and can't have, and I'm 99.9% Rose is going to be DD2s middle name. Good choices Smile

I do really like Annabelle, but Bella and Belle?! (as, I'll be honest, Anna isn't really a fave IMHO)

Any other options on your list?!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 15/07/2012 20:54

I loved Holly but I can't have that due to our surname either! I'm also not a big fan of Anna but I like Annie. A friend of mine has a Maddison and she is very cute.

That's so funny I am either using Rose or Ivy as a middle name.

My list today is -

Eliza
Leila
Phoebe
Ivy
Evangeline (but dh says no way)
Ava
Matilda
Madeleine
Genevieve

What good taste we have in girl's names OP and cookies and ellie!!!!!

PolkaDotMoon · 16/07/2012 20:45

Aniela with Annie for short?

squeak2392 · 17/07/2012 00:44

I think it's fine. Especially if it's Isabella and Annabelle.

IHeartKingThistle · 17/07/2012 01:24

I have an Annie. It doesn't need to be a nn!

LimeLeafLizard · 17/07/2012 09:36

To answer the first question, I think thats a bit too same-y.

I love all the others on your list though, esp Ava and Evangeline.

dreadingseptember · 17/07/2012 09:41

What about Rose Annabel. We used it as a middle name to get over the same problem as you with our dds.

ansie09 · 17/07/2012 17:35

Personally if that's the name you like you should go for it. DD1 has a name made up of three syllables ending "ia" and DD2 ( due imminently) is also going to have a name made up of 3 syllables ending "ia". I worried about how they would sound together but DH and I both love the name and it's the only one we both really liked. Plus as someone said earlier, the only time I'm likely to put them together is writhing Christmas and birthday cards etc as dd1 is generally reffered to by her initials (something my dh started and has stuck) and dd2 will probably end up having her name shortened too.

Either way we love both their names and they are/ will be their own person!
