We're expecting our second girl in November and these two names are my current favourites - just wanted to know what people thought.

If you absolutely hate either of them, can you say why?

Also, I know it isn't, but doesn't Juno sound a bit Nicknamy?

Choose the name you like best!

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 13/07/2012 15:34

Haha at staffy! I thought it was more of a labrador name actually.

Brittaperry - your Marianne sounds great.

Thanks, she is :-)

DottieRose · 13/07/2012 20:20

I'm surprised that so many seem to like Marianne it is awfully bland. Juno completely outshines Marianne in my opinion! Juno is fresh, has history would be cute on a little girl, a teenager and a grown woman!

DottieRose · 13/07/2012 20:22

I think the actress Juno Temple is a great ambassador for the name (google her if you don't know her) very cool and not in the least bit large or bull terrier like!

SoftSheen · 13/07/2012 20:28

Definitely Marianne!

Declutterbug · 13/07/2012 22:30

I like Juno

Marianne would spend her whole school career having everyone mis-spelling her name in several different ways.

NadiaWadia · 13/07/2012 22:59

Marianne is lovely, classy and elegant. Makes me think of Marianne Faithfull, etc. A very international name. Not bland at all!

Juno has the advantage of being more unusual, but I just don't like the sound of it so much.

thedoublek · 13/07/2012 23:08

No one has mentioned Juno And The Paycock! Great Irish play. Juno is lovely. I've heard it used for men and women in Ireland and it is a great name.

NadiaWadia · 13/07/2012 23:15

Is it really used for men in Ireland, thedoublek ? But its after a goddess, isn't it?

DottieRose · 13/07/2012 23:39

I'm from Ireland and have never ever heard the name used for a man....ever!!

thedoublek · 13/07/2012 23:49

Yes Nadia, there is a journalist who works for the Irish Examiner (or could be Indo) and he is Juno and a guy! I always notice his name in the paper. Maybe he's the only one! Great name!

NadiaWadia · 14/07/2012 00:05

Oh, maybe his parents were a bit confused!

littleweed10 · 14/07/2012 20:43

My mum is called marnie! Nn from Margaret incidentally, but literally from 2 or 3 years old
She's only 67... I love her name, so pleased its getting popular

LuellaLovesLavender · 14/07/2012 20:47

Juno is simply gorgeous to me it had an ethereal feel to it ( if a name can have an ethereal feel Confused) Marianne while fine is blah!

LuellaLovesLavender · 14/07/2012 20:47

Has not had Blush

bringbacksideburns · 14/07/2012 20:50

Marianne reminds me of the Leonard Cohen song. It isn't a name used by everyone and is classy and funky because of the Faithful 1960's connection.
I also love the idea of Mimi as a nickname!

Juno just seems a bit pretentious, like you are trying too hard. No Offence meant!
