Elmo.

Hmmm, wonder what themed cards/presents/books he'll be receiving for aeons to come.

usualsuspect · 10/07/2012 14:50

I wanted to be called Georgina when I was a girl or Toni, I had a mate called Toni I loved her name.

BorisJohnsonsHair · 10/07/2012 14:51

Have I got this right? The Americans are taking the piss out of our choices of names?? Oh dear, oh dear .........

ShirleyKnot · 10/07/2012 14:51

How does one pronounce Aurelia? That is a pretty looking name.

Annunziata · 10/07/2012 14:52

Sophie Plum? Do you think that's a mother's maiden name or did someone actually call their child Plum?

GetOrfMoiiLand · 10/07/2012 14:53

Or-AY-lee-a

ShirleyKnot · 10/07/2012 14:53

I wanted to be called Sylvia. SYLVIA!

So I named by imaginary friend Sylvia instead.

Oh, or Hazel. I really like Hazel.

I wonder how long before Michelle, Tracy and Sharon are back in vogue.

squoosh · 10/07/2012 14:53

Boris The Americans seem to be fawning over these names to be honest, not taking the piss. They probably think these are standard names for your average UK child and are a bit in awe of the fanciness.

ShirleyKnot · 10/07/2012 14:54

I like that GOML. It would sound especially nice wiv my accent, innit?

FunnysInLaJardin · 10/07/2012 14:54

I love Maris Piper, it's kewl

ShirleyKnot · 10/07/2012 14:55

LIKED hazel, I don't LIKE hazel now - I'm not fucking 8.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 10/07/2012 14:55

Why would anyone give their daughter a middle name which is a slang word for ballsack?

miaowmix · 10/07/2012 14:55

I rather like Sophie Plum.
Already know two Willoughbys in London - I must admit I did laugh the first time I heard it, I genuinely thought it was a joke!

FunnysInLaJardin · 10/07/2012 14:56

I used to pretend that my middle name was Claire and not Nerys.........

GetOrfMoiiLand · 10/07/2012 14:57

I wanted to be called Marina when I was younger.

I hate hate hate my name.

usualsuspect · 10/07/2012 14:58

I used to ptrtend my name was Caroline for a while, in my head.

squoosh · 10/07/2012 14:58

GreyGardens Were the Willougbys you met both on black stallions looking a bit brooding and caddish?

If they were just bumbling around in a sand pit, well that's not on!

ShirleyKnot · 10/07/2012 14:58

I have the Louise middle name. Like everyone in the entire country who was born in the early 70's

usualsuspect · 10/07/2012 14:58

pretend*

GetOrfMoiiLand · 10/07/2012 14:58

I was nearly called Regan, mind you. Inspired by the girl in the Exorcist.

That is 100% true.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 10/07/2012 14:59

My middle name is Louise as well. I think it was obligatory in the 70s.

ShirleyKnot · 10/07/2012 15:00

Oooh, but Regan is all shakespearean as well isn't it? (Is it? Or have I mixed myself up?)

I would have been Elizabeth if I were a girl my Dad hadn't hated it.I'm not sure how I feel about that, I wouldn't have minded being Beth or El, not mad keen on being Liz or Lizzie.

Gareth if I were born avec goolies.

MarysBeard · 10/07/2012 15:01

Christabel Cross. I bet they are not familiar with the works of Kris Kross. JUMP JUMP

Mind you, we named our daughter Josephine and didn't realise her birthday was Bastille Day.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 10/07/2012 15:02

Believe me, my gran wasn't into Shakespeare. Grin But she was one of King Lear's daughters, yes.

FunnysInLaJardin · 10/07/2012 15:02

I was born in the early 70's and not a Louise in sight. We all had 'unusual' names
