I stopped myself cattily telling my Mum, who suggests Roxanna for a girl or Rex for a boy, that I wanted to name my child after neither a Mills and Boonesque stripper nor a dog. :-D

I am struggling to think of boys names though. SO much harder than girls. they seem either very run-of-the-mill of totally whacky whilst I want something more in between.

The best reason is 'because I just don't, okay?!'

e.g. I don't like Rex - I too think of it as a dog's name, and beyond that as a word rather than a traditional name.

But mainly I just don't like it because I don't. It would be pretty confusing if everyone was called Octavia, Ptolemy, Lola, Alfie, Kayden or Libertee-Jade, and I like the fact that everyone has different taste.

I like the names you have mentioned so far, so thinking we may have similar-ish tastes, these are currently on our shortlist:

Leon / Leo
Haydn / Aidan
Dominic
Joseph
Harris
Nathan
Zac

Sophie
Chloe
Lauren
Bethan
Anna
Bronwyn
Zara

Oh wow not heard Bronwen for ages - I'd forgotten about that, I used to love that name. To be honest I was pretty confident I had finalised the girls shortlist but now you have stirred another good'un into the mix. Grin

I love Leo but picky-britches DH has vetoed that one he also vetoed Bruce which I irrationally love, the man has no taste

I think Dominic could be one to stick on the fridge and see if it sticks.

p.s love the moniker littlecherublegs
