Will Séamus get bullied?

I am thinking of the name Séamus but am slightly worried about the potential for bullying.

Also like Róisín for a girl.

We have a a common Irish surname and he/she will have a brother called C ó r m a c

Any thoughts?

What is teaseworthy about the name Confused?

I can see why a Will might get called Willy, but Séamus?

squoosh · 04/07/2012 12:52

Séamus is a great name. Common enough, can't imagine it's too tease worthy.

You do know there's no fada in Cormac though don't you?

Badgerina · 04/07/2012 13:44

I like it, but I can't hear the name Séamus without hearing "shameless" echoing in my head.

ChickensHaveNoLips · 04/07/2012 13:46

Nope, he'll get called Shay.

Mollydoggerson · 04/07/2012 13:47

Wouldn't be bullied by any children I know (or adults for that matter).

I don't associate shameless with Seamus or Kill with Cillian or Die with Diana.

GnocchiNineDoors · 04/07/2012 13:47

Children will be more accustomed to the name due to there being a Seamus in Harry Potter.

Go for it.

squoosh · 04/07/2012 13:48

Shay is a cool nickname. I know lots of nice Shays.

Alurkatsoftplay · 04/07/2012 13:48

Is he/she small and dumpy with a monobrow? Then they might (voice of experience)
Nothing to do with name of course.

bananaramma · 04/07/2012 15:51

I still don't get what COULD be teaseworthy about Seamus - am I missing something? It's not like poopoohead, Bendy Dick or Gay-briel for example.

MammyToMany · 04/07/2012 16:36

Thank you.

When I was at school people used to say "you got shaaaamed" as an insult and it keeps popping into my head. I also think of shameless.

Hate the nickname Shay though. Hadn't thought of that.

(Some Córmacs have a fads, google Córmac and loads come up)

Both lovely names and can't think of any problems with them.

3boysgirlontheway · 04/07/2012 18:21

I cannot imagine any reason for Seamus to get bullied. I have never seen a ó in Cormac before either, very unusual.
