My first association = Anne of Green Gables' best mate. Second, another lovely lady with long black hair: Diana Ross.

Princess of Wales

Oh - & the only name link the DCs in School have ever made to Diana, has been when learning about Ancient Greece & they were all jealous she had such a cool name :)

The name Diana did not catch on in a big way while Diana Spencer was prominent, and I've always thought that rather surprising. It's a lovely name, timeless, classless and elegant.

And to answer the question, I think of all the glamorous Dianas - Ross, Rigg, Dors, Vreeland, Krall, and the goddess of course. Certainly not just the late princess.

Me ;-)

Like my name as i have never met another one making it quite unusual.

I had a baby girl recently. I was down to two names. One was Diana after the Anne books which I read all of as a girl. Too many people assumed it was after the Princess. I went with Amelia Rose in the end. If I had another girl I'd call her Diana.

My granny
I loved her and her name

applepieinthesky · 04/07/2012 22:41

Princess Diana

MacMac123 · 04/07/2012 22:41

Princess of Wales here too
Think it's a bit of a Carol/Barbara/Jane name. You could always start its resurgence again

winkle2 · 04/07/2012 22:43

Princess Diana

Love the name though and people are right, our children won't have heard of princess Diana so use it!

I know a Diana who is 25 and goes by the name Didi (pronounced Dee Dee) which is lovely!

darkfever · 04/07/2012 22:43

I thought of The Princess of Wales, then the moon.

twonker · 08/07/2012 01:42

It means dartboard or bullseye in Spanish. This would put me off big time, although I know a Diana known as diney who is beautiful and gentle and lovely.

PrettyCherryTrees · 08/07/2012 01:56

OP I'm with you - Diana Barry is my biggest association, though obviously Princess Diana too.

It is a lovely name.

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 08/07/2012 02:07

my dd talked about a diana at nursery who was her friend, i assumed it was a lady, turned out it was another little 3 year old, I must say at first hearing I was a bit Hmm odd name for a baby, but this little girl was so adorable and mischevious and sweet all at the same time, and she did very much suit her name.

I like it.

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 08/07/2012 02:09

It does also make me sing that american nursey rhyme type song.

dinah in the kitchen....

so I think i like dinah better.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 08/07/2012 09:51
