Simon, Peter, Robert - bad associations? Alternatives?

My favourite 3 names at the moment - I am hoping they fall into the 'everyone has heard of them and can spell them, but they are not particularly trendy at present' category.

But do you associate 'Simon' with 'simple?'
And 'Peter' with 'Baby P?'
And is Robert inevitably going to be called 'Robbie' (which I dislike)?

Or am I just thinking to hard here?

Thanks!

Robert/Rob v nice. Don't like Simon or Peter

I don't see any problem with Simon or Robert. Robert in particular has quite an array of possible nns.

Peter I've never liked. The sound 'pee' to start with. The expression 'peter out' when something is trailing off or declining. And it means fart in French.

I like Simon and think it is overdue for a revival. It has a nice meaning 'He who hears/listens' and Simon is a fab (though v sad) figure in 'The Lord Of The Flies' too! I like Simeon as well.

I like Robert, then Peter, but probably not Simon.

No bad associations with any of those really, although I would think Simple Simon!
