Had ds2 five weeks ago and cannot find a name that DH and I can agree on, its like we didn't know for the last year nearly that we were having a baby!!
Already have ds1 Henry so want something that goes with this.
So far the poor little thing has been...
Theodore, hugo, and Freddie.
My absolute fave is Freddie but DH won't agree, I've tried everything to get him to give in (he usually does) and he is still saying no to it, his argument being that he's never liked it particularly and I got to choose Henry.
Others include max, and as our surname is Johnson... Johnny.
Is Johnny different in a not kind of used much way? Does it make you think of durex? (my ironing ladies frank opinion!)
Anyone got any ideas? We've only got a week until we have to register the little beauty!
Please help!

How about Alfred or Wilfred? He could be Alf/Wilf and you could also use Freddie? Apart from that I think George goes very nicely.

VolAuVent · 30/06/2012 18:01

Johnny Johnson sounds too rhymey/comical to me, sorry. Max Johnson and Theodore/Theo Johnson both sound great - why did you go off Theodore? Hugo a bit posh for my taste.

How about

Alexander (Alex) Johnson
Luke Johnson
Tristan Johnson
Eli Johnson
Gregory Johnson
Peter Johnson
William Johnson
Leo Johnson
Daniel Johnson
Sebastian Johnson
Zachary Johnson
Miles Johnson
Samuel Johnson
Edward Johnson

Do you like Quinn? My GS name is Henry Quinn. His brother's name is Samuel Walker. I particularly like Xander, from Alexander. No one else liked it, when we were discussing a name for Sam. Also Greyson, Thomas, Jackson, Reese, Ian. four of those last five are GS's first and middle names.

Also, my DH really did not like the name of Henry but I never disliked it. It suits him and he is a lively and fun five year old now.

Just remember you only have one more week to register the birth. By law you must register the birth of your baby within 42 days of the birth in England and Wales.

Congratulations on your baby BTW.

mumblecrumble · 30/06/2012 18:33

What on earth do they do if you haven;t registered the birth?

Sam Johnson......

Max Johnson

All lovely :) Let us know!

HolyCameraConfusionBatman · 30/06/2012 18:42

Congratulations!

Theo is ok, not keen on Hugo, I really think Johnny is a NO if your surname is Johnson. How about;

Wilfred - nn Freddie
Alfred - nn Freddie
Edward - nn Eddie or Teddy (or Ned, Ed, Ted, Woody, Bear etc)
James - nn Jamie or Jay
David - nn Davey
Thomas - nn Tommy, Tom
Louis - the French way, no S sound

Bunbaker · 30/06/2012 18:45

"What on earth do they do if you haven;t registered the birth?"

I'm not sure. I think you get fined. You won't be able to claim child benefit until you register the birth, so you are missing out. Does anyone know if you can claim retrospectively?

Geranium3 · 30/06/2012 20:12

edward
oscar
matthew
felix
ralph/ael

pookamoo · 30/06/2012 20:15

I'm pretty sure you can register the birth without entering a name.

The birth has to be within 42 days in England and Wales but you might have a bit longer to find his name.

Hang on, I'll do some googling...

cece · 30/06/2012 20:16

My DS is Jonathan but is known as Jonny. I think it is a great name. Only one person has been rude enough to comment on the condom connection and that was an 8 year old boy.

cece · 30/06/2012 20:16

Oh and we rarely meet another Jonny or even a Jonathan.

JustFabulous · 30/06/2012 20:18

Johnny Johnson sounds awful, sorry.

Whatabout something left field like George or Mark?

I don't understand this MN obsession with names going together.

cece · 30/06/2012 20:18

He is sometimes known as Jonny Johnster the monster. Grin

pookamoo · 30/06/2012 20:19

It says here you have one year from birth to register the name, although the birth itself must be done within 42 days.

That's not an official government site though so it's probably best to check with the registrar!

cece · 30/06/2012 20:19

I disagree and think Johnny Johnson is an excellent name.

mayanna123 · 30/06/2012 20:26

I too think that Johnny Johnson is too ryhmey, sorry. I'd also avoid Hugo because otherwise your boys' post can get very confusing (Henry and Hugo).

How about Henry and

Alexander (Alex) Johnson
Quentin (Quinn) Johnson
Benedict (Ben) Johnson
Sebastian Johnson
Peter Johnson
Dominic Johnson

WestWinger · 30/06/2012 20:27

cece I love the name Jonathan - it is on my shortlist for DC2 due later this year. :o Jonny Johnster the Monster

Max Johnson sounds good. Theo is nice too. Matthew, Edward, Luke, Sam and James all lovely too. James Johnson does have quite a nice ring to it. And two kings - Henry and James!

bouncysmiley · 30/06/2012 20:37

Frankie? Timothy? Teddy?

Viviennemary · 30/06/2012 20:57

Of the names suggested I like Alexander best. Not Johnny Johnson. I don't think you can go wrong with solid traditional names. Philip, Mark, Michael and so on.

nannyof3 · 30/06/2012 21:06

Ralph
Harry
Archie

Mrsfluff · 30/06/2012 21:10

Charles Johnson?
Jared Johnson?
Caleb Johnson?
Samuel Johnson?

SandyBottoms · 30/06/2012 21:33

James Johnson nn Jamie, or JJ?

Scheherezade · 30/06/2012 21:35

Don't give your child a nickname for a real name. if it's to be Frddie, call him Frederick.
