On here people seem to like Clementine and be sniffy about Clemency. Why? I like both though veering towards Clemency.

I think of court hearings and pardons when I hear the word Clemency. I just don't see it as a name. However if I like it it wouldn't stop me using it! If you like it that's what counts :)

WithACherryOnTop · 20/06/2012 18:57

Clementine is just as awful as Clemency imho.

DottieRose · 20/06/2012 19:16

Clementine is a totally gorgeous name.....my future dd will be Clementine! Clemency is also lovely!

randomimposter · 20/06/2012 19:37

I love Clemency, and had hoped to use it, but DC2 apparently has the wrong equipment.

Much prefer it to Clementine myself.

So please use it as I won't be able to now :)

I love Clemency! It's as nice as Dorothy, Bethany or Felicity, it is a complete mystery to me why it isn't even half as popular as those names. (Its rareness is another thing in its favour for me).

Also like Clementine (which was the name of Kate Winslet's character in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I love that film) but Clemency has the edge for me. It has the 'ee' ending which I think is nice and easy on the ear, but is less cutesy than, say, Daisy or Molly.

Archip17 · 20/06/2012 22:17

I think Clemency is beautiful - I knew one at school. For me the name is very elegant. The only thing I would say is Clemmy can be used as a nickname - might not be an issue for you, but it always makes me think 'flemmy'!

I also like the French name 'Clemence', but I don't think it sounds right pronounced in the English way.

Pasiphae · 21/06/2012 14:09

I love both.
They are both classic but still fun.
Clemence is gorgeous too, even in English I think.

StepOutOfSpring · 21/06/2012 15:19

They're both lovely names :)

SweetPea3 · 21/06/2012 21:18

I want to call DD Clementine, but DH is vetoing :(

Justfeckingdoit · 21/06/2012 21:44

I love Clementine, but then I have one :)

Her nn is currently Clembles or Clembie. She is only one though.
