Alice or Nathalie (looking for a classic but not too popular girl's name)?

We are looking for a classic but not too popular girl's name, which should also exist in French and have a similar spelling or pronunciation (names like Helene or Jeanne are ruled out, because they are pronounced differently).

Any suggestions are welcome!

I'll be watching this thread with interest!

I would say, though, OP that slight pronunciation differences might be less of an issue than you think. I grew up in a French/English bilingual family and my parents chose names which worked in both languages but weren't identical, and it never caused any confusion: you just use the pronunciation of the language you're speaking in. I'd say that Helen/Helene and Jean/Jeanne have pronunciation close enough for it not to matter. The spelling difference is more important, although if you really like those names then I think that even minor spelling differences are probably ok unless you're planning to change country during their childhood. (especially moving children with names spelled the English way to France - I think English people are more likely to react positively to French names than the other way round)

Natalie is France's equivalent of Sandra. Though maybe good for a re-run.

Alice is still very popular. As is Adele, Clara, Camille, Margot, Valentine.

I love Flore/ Flora/ Fleur too.

How about Natasha? Much prefer it to Nathalie, although I'm not quite sure why. And yes, Nathalie is very dated in France. Alice is lovely.

My friends daughter is Orla- they are a Brittish family living in France and the name works well in both countries for them. :)

Thanks a lot for your lovely suggestions! My initial favourite was Sophie, but I was put off by its popularity. Probably I'll use it as a middle name though.
