You can't possibly use Ringo, can you imagine a judge called Ringo?

Poulay · 17/06/2012 00:28

Good point.

Now, all rise for Lord Chief Justice Axel.

mathanxiety · 17/06/2012 00:38

Axel is fab, cool and a real name.

Jagger is Mick.

FairLadyRantALot · 17/06/2012 01:25

Surely NOT

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 17/06/2012 01:27

Had a friend who named daughter Dylan.
Yes he is a massive fan.

Tortington · 17/06/2012 01:29

takingiteasy · 17/06/2012 04:56

How about Dredd, definitely can imagine someone called Judge Dredd Grin

BasilDonna · 17/06/2012 11:21

You all ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
It's Axl.

Grin
TodaysAGoodDay · 17/06/2012 11:23

Absolutely hideous. This is a wind-up isn't it? AIBU is the place to pick fights Grin

HappyCamel · 17/06/2012 11:23

I think the Maroon 5 song would give Jagger a lifetime of bullying. Axel if you must, it's a Nordic name meaning father of peace. It's the 8th most popular name in Sweden so he won't be the only one. I think it's Axl Rose not Axel too.

AdventuresWithVoles · 17/06/2012 11:23

I was thinking Vanhalen has a nice ring to it.
Cousin has a 4yo Axel, she thinks it's a Belgian name.

yousankmybattleship · 17/06/2012 11:25

Slash is nice. Won't be too many in the class either.

AdventuresWithVoles · 17/06/2012 11:25

Wait a minute, maybe it's me who thinks it's Belgian, Axel Merkx, anyway, is a real person (and not a rocker, either!).

Thatisnotitatall · 17/06/2012 11:26

I rather fancied calling DS2 Axel - but we live in Germany (which in a way makes it more normal BUT... it sounds exactly the same as the word for armpit in German!" As we didn't want him to be nicknamed Sweaty or anything by his school friends we called him Henry in the end :o

Jagger just says Mick Jagger to me... also wouldn't work with many surnames IMO.

DS1 is Erik - Viking name, means Kingly or Eternal ruler... I think he really suits it (he's a big strong broad shouldered boy :) ), if you are looking for good strong names that are also not in common use I recommend it :)

BasilDonna · 17/06/2012 11:26

Or Alice.
For a boy.

RockChick1984 · 17/06/2012 11:27

Axel with an E makes me think Axel Foley.... Despite being a huge GnR fan!! If doing it in tribute of Axl Rose, PLEASE spell it correctly! Grin

Thatisnotitatall · 17/06/2012 11:31

Axel is a real and relatively normal name in Germany, but it isn't much used for young kids now - there is a DJ on the local radio station here called Axel Robert Müller ... It is a "normal" name in this part of the world, spelt with an E, though I don't know whether the origins are Belgian or German or from another part of Europe.

sweetkitty · 17/06/2012 11:32

Great names for cats

MarkGruffalo · 17/06/2012 11:36

thatisnotitatall Grin Komm hier Armpit!

If this is NOT a wind up and you do live in the UK then Axel

Jagger erm.. No*

  • just cos that maroon band and chezza cole chavalikey have namechecked old Mick of late does not a name make! Wink
takingiteasy · 17/06/2012 14:41

I'm swaying towards Axel.

MamaLazarou · 17/06/2012 14:56

Axel is a nice name. I assume you are joking with Jagger. I hope you are joking.

BasilDonna · 17/06/2012 19:54

Nice one, OP!
Grin

wheredidyoulastseeit · 17/06/2012 20:23

Axel with middle name Grease. would be great if he became a mechanic.

Lannie33 · 19/06/2012 02:10

I LOVE Axel!!! it was on our shortlist for DS1. We're scandinavian so the ethnic/nordic thing was a plus for us, but we ended up going with Mikk for DS1 (a name from our ethnic origin). So now we can't use Axel for any subsequent kids for obvious reasons :)
If you like Jagger, what about Jag? Or does that sound like the car? I know one person named Jag (40-ish) who is Indian and super cool and i know a few old ppl named Axel (well actually Aksel, which is how its spelt in our language).
Good luck with the baby name search!!
