Need help finding boys names

I am 14 weeks pregnant and we can not think of any boys names that we both like. (we have girls names)

I really like Seth, but my dh has said no way.

We do like Oscar, but it is very popular at the moment and I don't want to end up knowing 3 or 4 of them!

If popularity bothers you then definitely don't go for Oscar. How about Arthur?

Happilymarried155 · 11/06/2012 19:30

Arthur seems to be very popular at the moment too, what about;

Isaac
Albert
Charles
Alfred
Hayden
Edward

StepOutOfSpring · 11/06/2012 20:02

Samson
Luke
Peter
Tristan
Edwin
Daniel
George

Agree that Oscar is very popular/trendy.

How about these for less trendy names
Dominic
Quentin
Patrick
Tristan
or have a look at the ONS lists of ALL boys names - lots of lovely names outside the top 100s.

everlong, some people would prefer not to have to share their name with lots of others - this can be a pain at school (where you're always known as XX.surname or little XX) as well as in life, depending on which field you work in. It can be a benefit if you can easily be 'found' on the internet, for example. Rather difficult if your name is John Smith or Harry Jones, for example. At the end of the day, we name people so they can be identified.

My Oscar is 7. He's the only one in his school, there are none at my school, and none at DH's school either Smile

bananaramma · 12/06/2012 09:37

Like the name Seth very much - seems less trendy than Oscar too. Yes, the ONS list gives all the names used every year, you could have a look at the boys names outside the top 250 or 500 for some inspiration.

Sethbornapril · 12/06/2012 18:13

I have a Seth he was born in 2010. It was the ONLY boys name that we both agreed on. I regret telling people the name we had chosen before he was born as we got very mixed reactions.
The older generation think of Seth from emmerdale with the big sideburns yet younger people really liked it due to actors and entertainers such as Seth Green, Seth Rogen, Seth McFarlaine (writer of family guy).
I am so so glad that we stuck to our guns and stuck with it, those that originally were not so sure love it and agree that he is 100% a Seth!

dementedma · 12/06/2012 22:09

Ralph
laurence
Simon
guy

sugarspiceandallthingsnice324 · 12/06/2012 22:12

What about:
Felix
Otto
Arlo
Phineas - Phin

MrsJamin · 12/06/2012 22:20

I know 3 Seths and no Oscars! Just go for something you love.

poppydaisy · 13/06/2012 08:36

I bet Oscar is much higher up the ONS boys list than Seth - might be worth checking up though. I know quite a lot of little Oscars.
