Thats it really .

If I have a son I think he will be called "baby SiioCal" forever .

No he knows it biblical he just thinks it sounds made up . The kind of name you can't get away with living in the west of scotland . It was my late grandas nickname when he worked in the shipyards.

Your DH thinks Jonah sounds made up? Confused.

Go with Jacob if you all like it, don't worry about popularity, Charlotte is also very popular.

CakeBump · 08/06/2012 09:17

Ishmael
Lorcan
Leander
Cosmo
Henry
Emil
Jerome
Miles

We're having the same problem at the moment. I've considered everything from Jack and Charlie to all sorts of unbelievably pretentious names :)

20wkbaby · 08/06/2012 09:31

I have a Phoebe (middle name Charlotte!)... and a Poppy.

If a boy Phoebe would have been Samuel Jacob. I liked Jonah too and Seth, Saul, Isaac and Elijah - DH not so keen but as it turned out we never had to pick a boy's name.

SiioCal · 08/06/2012 09:34

It's so hard cake I am tying myself up in knots trying to get a name that is unusual but not so out there that our son would hate it . It's a hard decision to make you lie with your name your whole life . I love mine and I love DDs so I want dc2 to love theirs too .

I'm also finding the majority of the names you lovely mners are suggesting we already have in the family ! (We both have big ones)

Jonas? In between Jonah & Jacob.

aliportico · 08/06/2012 09:43

Amos and Micah are two biblical ones I like that haven't been mentioned (i think).

Hoti · 08/06/2012 09:53

I like both Jonah & Jacob, if you really won't use those and don't like any boys name how about calling him after your DH?

Bunnyjo · 08/06/2012 10:01

DS is Oscar, which is still not too popular 'oop north where we live, and we had also shorlisted Reuben and Elijah. I wanted Reuben, DH wanted Elijah and DD wanted Oscar and screamed until we caved in we opted for that in the end.

Others I like include: Seth, Saul, Joseph, Noah, Gabriel, Luke, Lysander and Rufus, but most of them have already been mentioned. Good luck, I found chooding DS's name much harder than choosing DD's name.

CakeBump · 08/06/2012 10:02

Ok I'll hit you with our other random considerations...

valentine
Gabriel
Timon
Arlo
Armand
Aneurin
Pepin
Pippin
Santon
Taliesyn
Charlie
Edgar
Mered
Milo
Freddie

Just to confirm we are an odd mix of German and welsh, hence some of the choices, plus I wouldn't be brave enough to use quite a few of those I have listed... :)

Mindyourownbusiness · 08/06/2012 10:04

How about Saul - as in my post on the other thread re baby names - I really am flogging this name arent I ? Grin.

It means 'asked for' or 'prayed for'. You never seem to hear it yet Paul only one letter different is very common.

lagartija · 08/06/2012 10:04

Nicolas.

EBDTeacher · 08/06/2012 10:09

Gene
Christopher --> Kit
Christoph (not sure of spelling?)

SiioCal · 08/06/2012 10:22

I hate our accent there are some really beautiful names but when we say them they sound ridiculous or forced . For example DH liked Emily but here some people would say emly and that is just horrible !

TheMightyMojoceratops · 08/06/2012 11:58

What about Jonah as a nickname for Jonathan?

SiioCal · 08/06/2012 18:32

Ok so DH has just suggested cobain nn coby . Any thoughts ?

OP posts:
LikeaPairOfNunsKnickers · 08/06/2012 18:40

Cobain makes me think of Nirvana

littletomato · 08/06/2012 18:49

What about Cody instead?

EBDTeacher · 08/06/2012 19:10

Too Kurt.

What about Coburn with nn Coby? It is Scottish apparently?

Mimca · 08/06/2012 19:58

I like your classic names so I would keep with the same theme, but then you have a good chance of meeting another one at school. I would say the same thing about Charlotte and Georgia. I know three Jacobs.

Joseph
James
Jasper
Thomas
Henry
Felix
Matthew
Lucas
George
Benjamin
Oliver
William
Charles
Barney
Ethan
Peter
Edward
